Overview
The Senior Audit Manager will lead and manage the internal audit function to ensure robust internal controls, risk management, and compliance frameworks across the organization.
This role involves strategic oversight of audit planning, execution, and reporting, as well as driving continuous improvement in governance, processes, and operational efficiency.
The ideal candidate will bring a deep understanding of audit methodologies, regulatory frameworks, and financial risk management, along with proven leadership and stakeholder management skills.
Key Responsibilities
Audit Planning & Strategy :
- Develop and execute a comprehensive risk-based internal audit plan aligned with organizational objectives.
- Identify key risk areas and establish audit priorities for financial, operational, and compliance functions.
- Review and approve annual and quarterly audit plans to ensure adequate coverage of business-critical processes.
- Align audit activities with the organizations overall risk management and compliance strategies.
Audit Execution & Oversight :
Lead and manage multiple audit assignments simultaneously, ensuring quality, accuracy, and timeliness.Supervise fieldwork, assess internal control effectiveness, and review audit findings.Ensure that audit procedures are conducted in accordance with professional standards (IIA / ICAI).Oversee the use of data analytics and automated tools to improve audit efficiency and coverage.Reporting & Stakeholder Communication :
Present key audit findings, risk exposures, and recommendations to senior management and the Audit Committee.Prepare and review audit reports, management letters, and dashboards summarizing control weaknesses and risk trends.Follow up with process owners to ensure timely closure of audit observations and implementation of corrective actions.Maintain transparency and consistency in audit communications with leadership and business heads.Risk Management & Governance :
Support the organizations enterprise risk management (ERM) and internal control framework.Identify emerging risks, regulatory changes, and process inefficiencies, and recommend appropriate mitigation strategies.Ensure adherence to regulatory and compliance requirements (SOX, IFC, ISO, or industry-specific standards).Collaborate with external auditors, compliance, and legal teams to coordinate audit activities.Process Improvement & Advisory :
Act as a strategic advisor to senior leadership on governance, process optimization, and control improvements.Identify opportunities for automation and digital transformation in internal audit processes.Promote a culture of accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement across the organization.Mentor and coach audit team members to enhance technical and analytical capabilities.Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
