Position : Program Officer (Legal)
Location : Bengaluru
We are seeking a Program Officer (Legal) to provide legal support, resolve worker cases, and mentor helpline and field teams across the South region. The ideal candidate is a young, committed legal professional passionate about social justice and labour rights. Court representation experience in Bengaluru is highly desirable.
Key Responsibilities
Operational & Programmatic
- Oversee helpline operations and coordinate activities with field and central teams.
- Supervise, train, and guide Case Managers, field teams, and ILL fellows.
- Conduct capacity-building programmes and develop training materials.
- Analyze MIS data for operational insights and support programme expansion.
- Undertake research and advocacy on labour rights issues.
Legal Work
Liaise with police, labour departments, and legal services authorities for case follow-up.Prepare and support claims in labour courts; represent or coordinate representation of workers.Develop long-term legal strategies to address workplace violations.Conduct legal literacy and outreach sessions for workers and communities.Build partnerships with legal networks, trade unions, and civil society groups.Candidate Profile
LL.B. degree with 3–5 years’ full-time experience in a legal or non-profit organization.Experience in labour law or legal aid programmes preferred.Bar registration and litigation experience in labour / human rights law desirable.Willingness to travel to field locations.Strong interpersonal, supervisory, and data management skills.Language : Proficiency in English, Hindi, and one or more South Indian languages (Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, or Malayalam).
