Role Overview :
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated 5G Layer 3 Protocol Stack Developer to design, develop, and maintain the RRC (Radio Resource Control) and NAS (Non-Access Stratum) components of the 5G NR protocol stack.
The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in 3GPP standards, protocol signaling, and embedded systems programming, combined with strong debugging and analysis skills.
Key Responsibilities :
Protocol Stack Development :
- Design and implement 5G NR Layer 3 protocol stack (RRC & NAS) components.
- Optimize performance, scalability, and memory utilization in embedded systems.
Standards & Compliance :
Ensure full compliance with 3GPP specifications (Release 15 and above).Analyze, design, and implement new features aligned with evolving standards.Debugging & Analysis :
Debug and troubleshoot signaling flows and message handling.Utilize tools like Wireshark, QXDM, and advanced debuggers for root cause analysis.Collaboration & Integration :
Work closely with system architects, L2 / L1 teams, and QA engineers to ensure seamless integration.Support system-level testing, interoperability (IOT), and field trials.Quality & Documentation :
Deliver clean, maintainable, and well-documented code.Participate in design / code reviews and contribute to documentation.Required Skills & Qualifications :
Strong proficiency in C and C++ for embedded systems development.Hands-on experience in 5G NR protocol stack (RRC & NAS).Strong understanding of 3GPP standards, signaling procedures, and call flows.Proficiency with debugging / analysis tools (Wireshark, QXDM, or similar).Knowledge of RTOS, multi-threaded programming, and memory management.Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.Strong collaboration and communication abilities in cross-functional teams.Good to Have :
Experience in LTE / 4G protocol stack development.Exposure to performance optimization for high-throughput and low-latency systems.Familiarity with system-level testing and interoperability with commercial 5G networks.(ref : hirist.tech)
