Job description

Position – Career Programme Facilitator (Grade 8 to Grade 12)

Timing – 10.30 to 7.30

Location – Sector 128, Noida

Target working group – Grade 8 to 12

Key Roles & Responsibilities –

  • 70% of the work is directly with children in groups and individually through a structured timetable
  • Managing the career Programme that includes Group & Individual Sessions with Grade 8 to Grade 12
  • Defining individual paths for Class 10 children – Stream choice, Vocational path, Diploma etc. through a shared vision building process with child & his / her parents
  • Defining individual career paths for Class 12 children – final career choice, college choices, alternative vocational paths etc. through a shared vision building process with child & his / her parents
  • Identifying and coordinating exposure visits, external sessions, alumni meetings, internships etc. for Grade 9 to Grade 12 children for enabling them with knowledge and skills to make right decisions
  • Identifying scholarships at School as well as College level and aligning every child with scholarships
  • Managing College Admissions / admissions for courses for alternative paths
  • Developing Career Research documents that the group owners can use for helping children understand various industries, streams etc.
  • Working with Alumni (class 12 pass outs) in groups and individually for supporting & enabling their progress in their chosen career paths (college / courses / jobs) The Facilitator role involves :
  • Approach towards work o Understanding, connecting, and building relationships with each child. o Creating a positive learning & inquisitive environment, where each child feels welcomed and encouraged to question and learn. o Maintain a respectful, progressive, and in-depth relationship with the family of the child. o Focus on self-learning and development to address the needs of each child.
  • Direct Work o Direct work with children and their parents in group as well as through individual sessions through a structured timetable process (70% of the total time everyday)
  • Content, Research, Design o Design Career Modules and Activities for Group and individual sessions for Grade 8 to Grade 12 o Research on 21 industries as identified by Vidya & Child o Training of existing staff on career modules where required o Research on Scholarships, Colleges, Coaching institutes (online / offline) o Researching and being updated on new age courses
  • Documentation o Consistently record and monitor progress of each child towards a meaningful career choice for themselves (from Grade 8 to Grade 12) o Working with peer groups on regular basis to identify the critical needs of every child and applying innovative, positive methodologies to help each child overcome different 1 challenges. (this involves reading and updating documents and records for each child through collaborative effort) o Managing Career Trackers, Alumni Data Trackers on weekly and monthly basis o Updating and sharing weekly and monthly plans and work update reports as defined
  • Working with external agencies o Working with existing partners in career space for psychometric testing, career sessions etc. o Working with organizations / agencies for internships, exposure visits, entrance coaching classes (for required children) Minimum Expectations
  • Minimum experience of 8 to 10 years in direct individual career Counseling for age 14 to 18 years
  • Readiness to do directly engage with children and parents (and not just manage / coordinate)
  • Time distribution of the roles & responsibilities would be – o 70% direct individual work with Children o 30% rest of the responsibilities
  • Being updated with current career fields, jobs, industries, courses
  • Good knowledge of Computers and English language – both written and spoken
  • Preferably career counseling experience at a similar education based NGO or with a school
  • Exposure to psychometric testing, counseling techniques, methodologies This is a full time position and requires physical presence at the assigned centres. Candidates without relevant experience will NOT be considered.

Those with NGO experience and staying within Noida or close by would be given preference. Salary will be commensurate basis relevant experience & qualification of the candidate and as per NGO / social sector standards.
