Job Description

ABOUT THE ROLE :

We are looking for a Java Lead Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will lead the design and implementation of high-quality backend services, with a strong focus on Java, API development, and integration with Cloud technologies (AWS). You will be responsible for guiding and mentoring a team of engineers in building scalable, secure, and reliable solutions while managing complex backend systems in a microservices architecture. You will ensure the integration of modern technologies such as Kafka for event management, Docker & Kubernetes for containerization, and contribute to enhancing our platform's backend capabilities. You will collaborate with product, design, and engineering leaders, while also acting as a strategic partner to define a roadmap for API architecture and backend systems. This role also requires driving innovation, promoting best practices in coding, security, and architecture, and enabling team members&apos career growth.

WHAT YOU'LL DO :

• Lead a team of developers in the design, development, and deployment of scalable and secure backend systems and APIs, primarily using Java and Spring frameworks.
• Guide the development of microservices architecture and manage integration with cloud platforms (AWS), event streaming systems (Kafka), and container orchestration tools (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (product, design, QA, business analysts, etc.) to define and deliver backend solutions that meet business needs.
• Implement Domain Driven Design (DDD), Object-Oriented Design (OOD), and proven design patterns for building robust backend services.
• Develop APIs and services for critical platforms such as Billing, Collections, and Payment Gateways within the fitness industry.
• Support application deployment and system migrations to production, ensuring uptime and reliability.
• Enforce secured coding practices and ensure all solutions are developed in compliance with industry standards and legal requirements.
• Oversee quality assurance and integrate automated testing strategies to ensure high-quality code and system performance.
• Facilitate scrum ceremonies, including daily stand-ups, sprint planning, and retrospectives to ensure development goals are met and bottlenecks are resolved.
• Promote continuous learning and growth within the team through mentorship, coaching, and the development of career paths.
• Drive technical innovation and integrate new technologies through Proof of Concepts and initiatives that enhance product functionality.
• Be the escalation point for technical challenges and provide guidance on troubleshooting and debugging complex backend issues.
