Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced API Management Engineer to join our technical team, responsible for designing, implementing and managing enterprise-grade API management solutions. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in API platform migration, deep expertise with API gateways, and a strong understanding of API security, scalability, and monitoring. This role will play a critical role part in driving digital transformation initiative by enabling secure, scalable, and efficient API ecosystems for the organization.

Key Responsibility

As part of the API engineering team, you will be responsible for :

The design, development and management of API proxies for the organization.

Collaborate with cross functional teams (Development, DevOps, Security) to deliver APIs that are scalable, reusable and secure.

Automate API lifecycle management using CI / CD.

Plan and migrate proxies to a new APIM platform as and when required.

Implement best practices for API management including security, performance, monitoring, discoverability, documentation, self-service etc.

Experience of developing or working with APIs to create integration between subsystems

Adopt agile methodology to deliver business values to the stakeholders.

Essential Skills

5-9 years of relevant experience in API design, development and management.

Hands on experience with API management tools such as Apigee, MuleSoft Anypoint, Azure API management.

Strong understanding of RESTful APIs, API design principles and best practices. API management best practices - Security protocols (HMAC, OAuth, JWT, API Keys), Rate Limiting, Versioning, Monitoring & Alerts.

Hands on experience with Terraform.

Hands on experience with Git & CI / CD pipelines using GitHub Actions and Azure DevOps

Hands on experience with programming languages e.g. JavaScript / TypeScript / Python.

Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g. Azure, GCP, AWS) and microservices architecture.

Excellent communication, problem solving and debugging skills.

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

Preferred

Experience with API management platform migration

Certification in API management platforms like Apigee, MuleSoft, or related technologies.

Certifications : Apigee developer
