Role Overview-
The Orthopedic Consultant will provide advanced clinical care in diagnosing and treating musculoskeletal disorders, trauma, and joint diseases. The consultant will lead patient management, perform orthopedic surgeries, contribute to clinical protocols, mentor junior doctors, and support the development of high-quality orthopedic services within the hospital.
Key Responsibilities-
Clinical Care
- Diagnose and manage patients with orthopedic injuries, degenerative diseases, sports injuries, and congenital conditions.
- Conduct comprehensive OPD evaluations, IPD rounds, and emergency consultations.
- Plan, perform, and supervise orthopedic surgeries including trauma, arthroscopy, joint replacement, spine procedures (if applicable), and other elective surgeries.
- Provide post-operative care, rehabilitation guidance, and long-term follow-up.
- Ensure patient safety, quality of care, and adherence to clinical protocols.
Emergency & Trauma Management
Provide expert management of acute trauma cases including fractures, dislocations, polytrauma, and related orthopedic emergencies.Coordinate with emergency physicians, anesthesiologists, and critical care teams.Operational & Administrative
Maintain accurate medical records and documentation.Collaborate with hospital administration to enhance orthopedic services, optimize theatre efficiency, and support equipment planning (implants, arthroscopy sets, C-arm usage, etc.).Participate in departmental meetings, audits, and quality improvement activities.Patient Experience & Communication
Provide compassionate, patient-centered care with clear communication about diagnoses, treatment plans, and surgical risks.Engage with patient families and collaborate with physiotherapists and rehabilitation specialists.Qualifications & Experience
MS / DNB in Orthopedics from a recognized institution.Min 2 years of post-qualification experience.Proficiency in orthopedic trauma, arthroscopy, and / or joint replacement surgery preferred.Valid medical registration with state medical council.Key Skills
