Sr Manager, Software Development Engineering
Our team is looking for an excellent engineer and dynamic leader who is exceptional in many ways : technically excellent, business-and-product minded, able to contribute to strategy or dig into the details, and most importantly : someone who empowers their people and teams to succeed, building end-to-end solutions
An established people leader who manages a larger team of 6-10 engineers. Responsible for delivering work within defined domains while also expanding the scope and feature set in those areas.
Who You Are
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or related technical field or equivalent related professional experience
- 8+ years of professional, post-college software development in object-oriented language
- 3+ years people management experience with passion for growing individual careers and enabling high-performing teams
- Hands-on technologist and leader well versed at running sophisticated, multi-quarter initiatives and a broad portfolio of applications and services. Strong technical acumen and commitment to quality of engineering work and continuous improvement
- Excellent at switching contexts from strategic to detailed, technical to business, inter-team to cross-organization and everything in between
- Strong communication skills and highly effective collaborator. You articulate your ideas to teammates, peers, and leaders, providing details and supporting your ideas with data where applicable
- You incorporate others' input and feedback and strive to find common ground

What You'll Do
Anticipates and recognizes bottlenecks in work processes between teams and makes suggestions for ongoing improvement.Leads implementation teams and ensures the successful execution of new ideas or approaches.Coordinates with team to define the measures of success for process improvements.Develops product phase-out planning in line with the product roadmap.Determines different phase milestones and priorities in collaboration with product management peers.Extends outside of direct organization and collaborate with peers across a senior level organization.Partners with the business to have a clear understanding of how the technology stack is tied to business outcomes and our bottom line.Tests and maintains software applications and related programs and procedures by using a variety of software development tools following design requirements of customer.Acts as a spokesperson for software design best practices.Researches and recommends frameworks and architectural / code design patterns.Identifies areas of improvements within the code and suggests solutions.Advocates for operational excellence (such as unit testing, establishing SLAs, programming for resiliency and scalability).Has broad knowledge of the entire product, and can help with any component, or type of issues.Is versed / has up-to-date knowledge in EG's languages, frameworks, cloud services, toolkits, methodologies.Gains insight into how customers utilize technology for their competitive advantage and applies this knowledge to suggest areas for improvement.Conveys the right information to the correct parties to ensure that proposals for improvements are given the proper consideration and technical issues are resolved in a timely manner.Contributes to product development by identifying industry change, listening to customer needs, capturing feedback and communicating that feedback to the business.Remains informed on industry trends. Examines inefficiencies in the existing stack operation and encourages engineers to improve them.Bridges the gap in discussions between technology and non-technology personnel.
