Role Summary
Purpose of Role
The production of mechanical building services designs predominantly for Railway Stations and other Railway Buildings, working individually or as part of a team. Oversee day-to-day teams' operation and performance. Principal Engineer plays extremely important role in motivating a team and ensuring their success. Communicating company goals, safety practices, and deadlines with designated teams. Involved with the planning and forecasting of budgets and timelines to assure that the project is accurately completed to schedule.
Responsibilities :
- Design of Mechanical systems at Railway Stations through all design stages from concept to detailed design.
- Design of HVAC Systems, Stair Pressurization calculations, heat load calculations, review & checking of HVAC designs.
- Prepare user requirements, technical specifications, design specifications and commissioning plans.
- Provide technical guidance in planning and executing assigned projects.
- Supervise and verify the work performed by the designers / modeller to meet the requirements of the project.
- Liaise with UK lead office to Estimate the budget and time associated with the projects within the area of expertise.
- Ensure the compatibility of the Mechanical discipline with other disciplines involved in the projects.
- Create a health and motivating work environment and atmosphere.
- Develop a well designed and motivating evaluation program.
- Responsible for overseeing all activities within a team. Manage a team and manage employee development, employee appraisal, and staff development etc.
- Identify team goals, evaluate team progress and resolve conflict.
Qualifications / Technical Experience (e.g. Areas, Software)
Bachelor’s / master’s degree in mechanical / Thermal engineering.Experience of 12-18 years’ of working with MEP – Mechanical design.Qualifications meeting the requirements for Chartership with a UK Engineering Institution.The applicant shall have proven experience in the HVAC design of Railway Station Building Services with significant experience in a similar role or demonstration of a good track record.Carryout heat load calculations, Duct & pipe sizing and pressure drop calculations.Carryout HVAC Equipment’s selection such as Chillers, AHU, FCU, boiler, fans, pumps etc.Carryout preparation of technical submittals.Must have knowledge on software’s like AutoCAD, MEP Revit, MicroStation & other drafting software’s.A sound understanding of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Project is essential.Experience of associated discipline software (HAP, Hevacomp, IES etc.)Must be fluent in English with an excellent understanding of technical terminology.Applicants need to be able to demonstrate good management and technical.Raise the level of technical competence within the teams.Implement delivery and quality measurement processes.Promote technical excellence in all our projects.Extensive experience of working within a rail station environment and good working knowledge of Network Rail, TfL & LUL standards.Experience of contributing to the mechanical design on multidisciplinary projects and knowledge of rail design assurance processes.Good knowledge and understanding of the requirements necessary to develop and progress projects through the early stages of the lifecycle – LUL, GRIP and RIBA.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Problem solving and originality.Flexible approach to work.Desired Skills
