Backup Engineer

Job Description

Job Summary :

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented fresher to join our IT infrastructure team as a Backup Engineer. The selected candidate will support the daily operations of enterprise backup solutions, assist in data protection activities, and work closely with senior engineers to ensure data availability, integrity, and recoverability.

Key Responsibilities :

Monitor daily backup jobs and report failures or anomalies.

Assist in configuring backup policies and schedules as per organizational requirements.

Perform basic backup and restore operations under guidance.

Maintain and update documentation for backup configurations and incidents.

Collaborate with the system and application teams to troubleshoot issues related to backup and recovery.

Escalate unresolved issues to senior engineers or vendors.

Perform regular upgrades, patching, and performance tuning of backup systems.

Provide on-call support and incident resolution outside business hours as required.

Learn and apply best practices in data protection and disaster recovery.

Requirements

Required Skills and Qualifications :

Bachelor ’ s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field.

Basic understanding of Windows / Linux operating systems.

Familiarity with storage and backup concepts (e.g., full / incremental backup, restore points, retention).

Willingness to learn enterprise backup tools (Commvault, Veeam, Veritas, etc.).

Good communication and problem-solving skills.

Ability to work in a team and follow operational procedures.
