Position : Senior Research Associate – Jindal Institute of Haryana Studies (JIHS)

Location : Sonipat, Haryana

About the Institute : Jindal Institute of Haryana Studies (JIHS) at O.P. Jindal Global University aims to generate interdisciplinary, data-driven research addressing Haryana's socio-economic, environmental, and governance challenges. Through this the Institute aims to address critical developmental concerns, ensuring equity, sustainability, and community empowerment as well as strengthen industrial, agricultural, and entrepreneurial ecosystems, fostering sustainable economic growth and employment generation. It operates as a strictly independent, non-partisan research body housed in the University, serving as a knowledge hub dedicated to addressing the concerns and challenges of the state of Haryana.

Key Responsibilities : The objective of the role of the senior research associate is to assist with carrying out research at JIHS. The role involves working with affiliated faculty on ongoing research projects on various aspects of the state of Haryana with a focus on the labour market, health, education, among others. The senior research associate will be expected to be involved in data cleaning, writing summaries and reports, review field study plan, help in execution of field work, assist in writing proposals and applying for grants etc. They are also encouraged to work on independent projects.

Requirements :

• Master’s in Economics / Development Studies / Public Policy / Population Studies / Urban Planning, with at least two years of post-Masters work experience .
• Knowledge of statistical software such as STATA or R is required. Familiarity with a programming language such as Python and GIS / Spatial modelling tools is a plus.
• Experience working with economic datasets such as the PLFS / NSS, IHDS, NFHS etc.
• Experience in undertaking qualitative research is desired.
• Familiarity with the principal problems and the structure of the Indian economy is desired.
• Prior experience of working in the field and / or with the government is desired.
