Role Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and innovative Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and improving mechanical components, systems, and products. You'll work closely with cross-functional teams (R&D, electrical, manufacturing, quality, and supply chain) to bring ideas from concept to production while ensuring performance, cost-effectiveness, and manufacturability.
Key Responsibilities
Design and develop mechanical components, assemblies, and systems using CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks, CATIA, AutoCAD, Creo).
Conduct engineering analysis (stress, thermal, vibration, tolerance, FEA / CFD simulations) to validate designs.
Create detailed 2D drawings, 3D models, and BOMs as per standards.
Collaborate with manufacturing teams to ensure DFM (Design for Manufacturability) and DFA (Design for Assembly) principles.
Support prototype development, testing, and validation.
Work with vendors and suppliers to source materials and components.
Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for design-related issues.
Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and quality guidelines (ISO, ASME, etc.).
Continuously improve designs for performance, reliability, cost, and sustainability.
Document design processes, calculations, and project reports.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field (Master's preferred for senior roles).
Strong knowledge of CAD / CAE tools (SolidWorks, CATIA, AutoCAD, Creo, ANSYS, etc.).
Understanding of mechanical design principles, materials science, GD&T, tolerance stack-up.
Familiarity with manufacturing processes (machining, injection molding, sheet metal, casting, 3D printing).
Experience in prototype testing, validation, and problem-solving.
Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication, teamwork, and project management abilities.
Preferred / Nice-to-Have
Knowledge of PLM / PDM systems (e.g., Teamcenter, Windchill, Enovia).
Experience with finite element analysis (FEA) and computational fluid dynamics (CFD).
Exposure to mechatronics, automation, or robotics.
Hands-on experience in rapid prototyping & 3D printing.
