Chris O'Brien Lifehouse (COBL) is an independent not for profit private hospital situated in central Sydney, where our integrated multidisciplinary imaging delivers exceptional cancer care.

Our Interventional Oncology team is integral to this, and they rely on leadership and support from an exceptional Interventional Radiology clinician with experience and insight into the challenges and future development of peri-operative care.
Working closely with the Head of Department, we currently have an exciting maternity relief opportunity for an experienced Interventional Radiographer with a strong background in leadership roles to lead our team as we continue to grow. Our lab is equipped with the state-of-the-art Siemens Nexaris System, the first integrated CT and Angiography suite in Australia. Our ability to deliver advanced operative technologies provides patients with access to innovative care.
This is a 12 month fixed term contract role to cover maternity leave. There will be an option to extend on a part time basis or make permanent at the end of the term, however this will dependent upon the operational requirements of the service at the time.
Key Responsibilities of the Role
- Operational Management : Lead and coordinate the daily operations of the Interventional Oncology (IO) service, including radiographers, nurses, and technical assistants.
- Service Development : Contribute to the ongoing improvement and strategic growth of the IO and medical imaging services to ensure safe, efficient, and patient-centered care.
- Performance & Accountability : Work collaboratively with executive management and the Director of IO to meet service objectives and maintain high clinical standards.
- Leadership & Culture : Provide professional leadership and promote a positive, supportive workplace culture focused on teamwork, wellbeing, and continuous learning.
- External Collaboration : Liaise with external service providers and contractors to ensure smooth coordination and delivery of services.
- Clinical Practice : Perform high-quality diagnostic and interventional imaging procedures (fluoroscopy, angiography, CT, ultrasound, and related techniques) under the supervision of interventional radiologists and surgeons.
- Patient Car e : Ensure patient safety, comfort, and understanding throughout all procedures, maintaining a high standard of compassionate care.
- Equipment & Protocol s : Operate, maintain, and optimise complex imaging equipment and procedural protocols in line with safety and quality requirements.
- Team Collaboration : Work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including medical, nursing, and administrative staff, to plan and deliver procedures effectively.
- Documentation & Compliance : Maintain accurate patient and procedural records, ensuring compliance with all clinical and regulatory standards.
- Radiation Safety : Monitor and minimise radiation exposure, oversee departmental radiation safety practices, and participate in hospital safety committees.
- Training & Supervision : Induct, supervise, and support new, graduate, and student radiographers; coordinate learning and competency programs.
- Quality Assurance : Undertake regular QA activities, including image quality review, equipment checks, and infection control monitoring.
- Research & Education : Participate in research, audits, and professional development activities to support innovation and best practice within the IO field.
- Service Promotion : Support broader departmental initiatives that enhance awareness and access to the IO service.
Essential Skills and Qualifications
