Job Description : Financial Controller
Position Overview
The Financial Controller will serve as the technical anchor of the finance function, responsible for ensuring robust accounting, statutory compliance, financial integrity, and timely reporting across Schbang’s Indian and international entities. Reporting directly to the Head of Finance, the Controller will oversee all aspects of accounting, audit, taxation, internal controls, and compliance, while leading a team of accountants and working closely with receivables, payables, FP&A, and international finance teams.
Key Responsibilities
1. Accounting & Reporting
Lead end-to-end accounting across India, UK, and Netherlands entities.
Ensure accuracy of books (Ind-AS, IFRS / UK GAAP compliance).
Oversee monthly / quarterly / annual closings.
Manage group consolidations and intercompany reconciliations.
Prepare and present MIS, management dashboards, and financial statements.
2. Statutory & Regulatory Compliance
Ensure timely filings : GST, TDS, Income Tax, PF / ESIC, Companies Act, ROC, FEMA.
Coordinate with auditors (statutory, internal, tax).
Manage international compliance (UK statutory filings, Dutch tax filings) with local advisors.
Stay updated on regulatory changes, assess impact, and implement controls.
3. Internal Controls & Audit
Design, implement, and monitor internal controls, policies, and SOPs.
Drive internal audit reviews and resolve audit observations.
Safeguard company assets and minimize statutory risks.
4. Team Leadership & Coordination
Lead and mentor the accounting team (11-13 members).
Work closely with Accounts Receivables, Accounts Payables, FP&A, and international finance functions to ensure smooth workflows.
Build a strong culture of accuracy, timeliness, and accountability.
5. Business Partnership
Support Head of Finance in strategic initiatives :
Cash flow optimization.
DSO reduction.
Profitability analysis.
Act as key liaison between finance and external stakeholders (auditors, bankers, regulators).
Qualifications & Experience
Chartered Accountant (CA), CPA, ACCA, or ACA (UK) mandatory, ideally from one of the big 4s.
2-5 years of progressive finance experience (at least 1-2 years in a controller / head of accounting role)
Strong knowledge of Ind-AS, IFRS, and cross-border accounting.
Hands-on experience in statutory audits, tax compliance, and ERP systems.
Exposure to international operations (UK / EU preferred).
