To ensure the Unit / Station availability as per the AOP plan , adhere to 100% statutory compliance , adopt safe and trouble-free technology, and provide value addition to all stakeholders. The goal is to convert the maintenance wing from a cost center into a profit center.

Key Responsibilities in Maintenance Work
- Maintenance Planning : Responsible for planning, scheduling, and executing preventive & breakdown maintenance of turbines and auxiliaries.
- Air Compressors & Dryers : Plan and schedule preventive & breakdown maintenance for air compressors and dryers.
- Emergency Shutdowns : Execute emergency shutdowns, including handling critical issues like feed pump bearing failure, generator rotor threadouts, hydrogen seal replacement, and major steam leaks.
- Day-to-Day Maintenance : Handle maintenance tasks during high-pressure (HP) and intermediate pressure (IP) control and stop valve failures, and safety valve failures to bring the system back online quickly.
- Turbine & Auxiliaries Availability : Responsible for maximizing unit availability for turbine and auxiliary mechanical maintenance.
- Defect Notifications : Handle day-to-day planning and execution of maintenance tasks based on defect notifications.
- Oil Quality & Vibration Monitoring : Work with the condition monitoring team to maintain oil quality and pump vibrations within specified limits.
- Major Overhauling : Participate in the major overhauling of turbines and auxiliaries, including condenser flood tests and HP heater hydro tests.
- BFP & Booster Pumps Maintenance : Involved in regular maintenance and overhauling of BFPs (Boiler Feed Pumps) and booster pumps.
- Air Compressors Maintenance : Work on improving the efficiency of air compressors and dryers.
- Erection and Commissioning : Participate in the erection and commissioning of turbines and auxiliaries.
Spare Management and Inventory Control
Spare Identification : Identify critical and other spares to avoid zero stock out.Spare Development : Develop spares using reverse engineering processes and collaborate with Indian and alternate vendors for supply.Inventory Management : Ensure inventory is effectively maintained to avoid emergency situations due to spare shortages.Procurement Planning : Plan and procure spare parts within the approved AOP budget, aiming for 80% of the budget.AOP Budget & Improvement Initiatives
AOP Budget Preparation : Assist in preparing the departmental AOP budget.5S Implementation : Ensure the implementation of improvement initiatives related to 5S in the TG and Auxiliary zones.KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Safety & Compliance
Safety at the Workplace : Take responsibility for implementing safety measures in daily maintenance work and identify unsafe actions / conditions.Safety Skill Development : Involve in developing safety skills for the agency workforce, especially for working in heights, confined spaces, and hot zones.EHS Compliance : Ensure compliance with internal / external EHS audits and safe execution of improvement action plans.Toolbox Talks : Conduct regular safety and toolbox talks with the workforce to address unsafe conditions and improve behavioral safety.System Reliability & Cost Saving
System Improvements : Identify and implement major modifications for system reliability and cost-saving, such as :Dosing line modification for easy maintenance.Installation of new valves to stop high-energy steam loss.Pressure gauge installation for monitoring balancing pressure.MDBFP cartridge reconditioning and installation.Troubleshooting & Reliability : Perform troubleshooting on various equipment to improve reliability and ensure uninterrupted operation.Uninterrupted Operation
Maintenance Practices : Implement preventive, proactive, and condition-based maintenance practices for uninterrupted and cost-effective power generation (targeting station availability >98.5%).
Troubleshooting : Resolve different equipment issues promptly for reliability improvement.Team Development
Training : Provide subject expert training on air compressors, and meet TNI (Training Needs Identification) requirements.Skill Development : Build a proactive, positive attitude and motivation within the team, addressing challenges and developing technical skills through daily discussions.Stakeholder Relationship
Interdepartmental Collaboration : Maintain good relationships within departments and with third-party vendors for smooth maintenance activities.Graduate Engineers Development : Guide and develop Graduate Engineers, building confidence in handling 24X7 maintenance activities.Information Management : Ensure proper information flow and build trust with senior management.EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering with at least 5 years of experience in power plant operations.RELEVANT EXPERIENCE
Extensive experience in all phases of maintenance activities such as erection , commissioning , and maintenance .Preventive, predictive, breakdown, and opportunity maintenance experience in the mechanical maintenance department.COMPETENCIES
