Job Title : VMware Cloud Engineer
Position Overview :
We are seeking an experienced VMware Cloud Engineer to join our Systems Operations Private Cloud team. This role focuses primarily on deploying, managing, and supporting VMware Cloud infrastructure across private and public cloud platforms. The ideal candidate will demonstrate expertise in VMware vSphere, vCloud Director, NSX, and VMware Cloud Foundation, with a strong emphasis on automation and collaborative problem-solving in a global environment.
Key Responsibilities :
VMware Infrastructure Deployment and Support
- Deploy, configure, and maintain VMware virtual infrastructure including ESXi hosts, vCenter Server, vCloud Director, and NSX components.
- Manage private cloud infrastructure environments and support multi-region cloud deployments.
- Perform routine maintenance such as patching, upgrades, and performance tuning of VMware environments.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to VMware infrastructure, storage, networking, and virtual machine provisioning.
- Lead incident response and root cause analysis for infrastructure-related outages and performance degradations.
Automation and Process Improvement :
Develop, maintain, and enhance automation scripts using PowerShell, Python, or other automation tools to eliminate repetitive tasks.Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools like Terraform, Ansible, and VMware Aria Automation for deployment and configuration.Document operational procedures and create runbooks to standardize VMware environment management.Collaborate on projects to integrate VMware infrastructure with other public cloud platforms such as AWS and Azure.Collaboration and Customer Engagement :
Provide technical expertise and Level 2 support to internal and external customers.Mentor junior engineers and support team members in VMware best practices.Work with cross-functional teams, including network engineering, storage, security, and application teams to deliver end-to-end cloud solutions.Participate in on-call rotations and respond promptly to after-hours support requests.Communicate effectively across global teams and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders.Qualifications and Experience :
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent.7+ years of hands-on experience in VMware Cloud engineering and infrastructure management.Proficiency with VMware product suite : vSphere, vCenter, NSX, vSAN, vCloud Director, and VMware Cloud Foundation.Strong scripting and automation skills using PowerShell, Python, Terraform, and Ansible.Experience managing VMware integration with public cloud providers (AWS, Azure).Solid understanding of networking concepts including VLAN, firewall, SDN, and VMware NSX networking.Experience with SAN and NAS storage technologies and backup / recovery solutions.VMware certifications such as VCP, VCAP, or VMware Cloud Specialist preferred.Competencies :
