The Role

As a Mainframe Storage System Programmer SME at Kyndryl, you’ll solve complex problems and identify potential future issues across the spectrum of platforms and services. You’ll be at the forefront of new technology and modernization, working with some of our biggest clients – which means some of the biggest in the world.

There’s never a typical day as a System Administrator at Kyndryl, because no two projects are alike. You’ll be managing systems data for clients and providing day-to-day solutions and security compliance. You’ll oversee a queue of assignments and work directly with technicians, prioritizing tickets to deliver the best solutions to our clients.

Required Skills and Experience

• 7+ Years of Experience in Mainframe Storage Administration
• Storage box data migration (DASD to DASD and Tape to tape) and Storage replication
• Analyze and research options for collaborates with exiting external systems
• Root Cause Analysis preparation and meeting Service level agreement for submission
• Develop, document and maintain procedures for system utilities such as backup / restore, performance tuning and configuration of environments as well as incremental backups as required
• Initialize / add new DASD volumes and Add new tape volumes. Perform the space management activities such as VTOC resizing, Defrag, Compress / Reclaim / Release / Cleaning of datasets
• Manage and Define SMS rules and ACS routines along with reorganization of storage dataset (RMM / HSM CDS & Catalog file)
• Disaster recovery planning and performing the recovery test (Tape recovery / DASD Replication / Tape Replication) and Managing the Copy services / GDPS
• Problem determination and resolution within expected time frame
• Assume personal responsibility for resolving problems in most effective way possible within SLA reaching root cause and preventing problems
• Lead daily Operations meetings provided there are no P1 incidents running Aid with identifying problem management trends
