The Senior Professional, Data Management & Governance job ensures the accuracy, security and effective use of the organizations complex data. With minimal supervision, this subject matter authority develops, implements and governs policies and practices to ensure compliance with standards and policies while improving the value of data.
Key Accountabilities :
- Serves as a domain expert and contributes to developing, deploying and maintaining data management and governance strategies aligned with organizational goals.
- Develops, documents and governs detailed data standards to ensure consistency and quality across data domains, and that policies are followed.
- Ensures the accuracy, consistency and reliability of data throughout its lifecycle by setting data quality standards, supervising data quality metrics and implementing corrective processes while conducting data quality audits as needed to ensure data standards are met, and works across organizational boundaries to address process changes, educational opportunities and organizational accountability.
- Serves as a domain authority to provide operational improvements to reduce data defects and risks, improve efficiency and speed while maintaining compliance to regulations and policies.
- Consults with business teams who are managing complex data from initiation to decommissioning to guide compliance with policies and regulations and serves as a subject matter expert to define opportunities for improvement, risk areas and driving a backlog of maturity advancements for consideration.
- Develops and deploys training programs to improve organizational literacy, compliance to data standards and policies and increased understanding of accountability for data :
- Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience, with 5 or more years preferred in data management, data governance, or related roles.
- Strong understanding of data governance frameworks, data lifecycle management, and regulatory compliance requirements.
- Experience in data quality management, including defining metrics, auditing, and implementing corrective actions.
- Demonstrated ability to work with cross-functional teams and influence stakeholders at various levels.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Technical Skills :
Proficiency with data governance tools (e.g., Collibra, Alation, Informatica Axon).Knowledge of data management and quality tools (e.g., Talend, Informatica Data Quality, SAS Data Management).Understanding of databases, data warehouses, and ETL processes (SQL, Snowflake, Redshift, Azure Data Lake, etc.).Familiarity with data privacy regulations and compliance frameworks (GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA).Ability to work with data cataloging, metadata management, and master data management (MDM) systems.Experience with reporting and data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau, Qlik) to track and report data quality metrics.(ref : hirist.tech)
