Position : Tax Review Specialist

Type : Independent Contractor

Compensation : $50–$60 / hour

Location : Remote

Commitment : Flexible hours

Role Responsibilities

Review a variety of U.S. tax returns, including federal and state forms and schedules.
Extract concise insights such as filing status, income sources, and deductions / credits.
Create verification checklists and follow-up questions to confirm accuracy or resolve ambiguity.
Flag anomalies and edge cases like multi-state moves and amended filings.
Work independently and asynchronously to meet project demands while ensuring high-quality outputs.

Qualifications

Must-Have

CPA or EA, and 4+ years of experience in U.S. individual / business tax preparation.

Strong working knowledge of Form 1040 ecosystems and state equivalents.

Excellent written communication skills for producing well-referenced notes and checklists.

Detail-oriented with sound judgment on materiality, consistency, and data quality.

Comfortable working with provided materials and following confidentiality guidelines.

Start Date

Start after a brief calibration / pilot to align on style, depth, and formatting.
