About the Role
The Manager – External Communications will drive communication strategies for key
business categories and corporate programs, ensuring consistent, proactive, and impactful
storytelling.
As part of the External Corporate Communications team within the Corporate Affairs function,
the role involves working closely with marketing and business teams to design and execute
integrated communication plans, manage media engagement, and partner with agencies to
enhance Flipkart’s external reputation.
The ideal candidate will bring strong strategic communication skills, the ability to work within a
complex organization, and the confidence to independently lead programs and manage multiple
stakeholders in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic and Category Communication
- Partner with marketing and category teams to design and implement proactive
communication plans and campaigns that align with business priorities.
Develop messaging frameworks, FAQs, and external communication material forcategories and corporate initiatives.
Support business announcements and high-visibility programs with strong narrativedevelopment and content support.
Media and Stakeholder Management
Build and sustain relationships with business, trade, and consumer media to delivereffective and positive brand stories.
Serve as a key point of contact for media queries related to assigned categories andprograms.
Ensure all media engagements reflect Flipkart’s brand positioning, values, andcommunication principles.
Leadership Collaboration and Advisory
Work closely with senior leadership within assigned categories to ensure clear,consistent, and strategic communication.
Advise business leaders on message development, timing, and stakeholder alignment.Agency and Partner Coordination
Collaborate with external PR agencies and content partners to ensure timely deliveryand quality outcomes.
Oversee the agency output for accuracy, consistency, and alignment with Flipkart’scommunication tone and standards.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Work closely with internal teams, including Policy, Marketing, Legal, and CorporateAffairs, to ensure coordinated communication approaches.
Contribute to organization-wide initiatives, campaigns, and reputation programs as partof the broader Corporate Communications charter.
What You’ll Bring
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or related field.5-7 years of experience in communications, with exposure to both agency and in-houseenvironments preferred.
Strong experience in managing multi-stakeholder programs within complexorganizations.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projectssimultaneously.
Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to influence stakeholders at leadershiplevels.
Prior experience in the consumer, retail, e-commerce, or technology sectors will be anadvantage.
Outstanding written and verbal communication skills; additional language proficiency is aplus.
Strong understanding of the media and digital landscape, including emerging trends andstorytelling formats.
