Role Overview
The Dean (Student Welfare) at our partner university is a Professor-level academic leader entrusted with enhancing student life, ensuring welfare, and promoting holistic growth. The role requires a blend of academic excellence, student connect, and administrative capability. The Dean will serve as the chief advocate for students, ensuring their well-being, inclusion, and development in line with the university's vision of learning beyond boundaries.
Key Responsibilities
Student Welfare & Well-being
- Establish and oversee welfare policies and frameworks that ensure physical, emotional, and mental well-being of students.
- Strengthen counselling services, grievance redressal mechanisms, and mentoring systems.
- Ensure compliance with anti-ragging, anti-harassment, and campus safety guidelines as per UGC / AICTE norms.
Campus Life & Student Engagement
Promote a vibrant campus culture through co-curricular, extracurricular, sports, and cultural initiatives.Guide student councils, clubs, and societies to foster leadership and community participation.Oversee orientation and induction programs for new students.Academic & Personal Support
Collaborate with Deans and faculty to support students facing academic, financial, or personal challenges.Identify at-risk students and establish remedial / mentorship programs.Promote inclusivity for students from diverse and international backgrounds.Student Representation & Governance
Act as the primary liaison between students and university leadership.Support democratic student representation through the Student Council.Ensure transparent communication channels for student feedback.Compliance & Institutional Alignment
Chair statutory committees such as Anti-Ragging Committee, ICC, and Discipline Committee.Prepare compliance reports for UGC, AICTE, NAAC, and ranking bodies.Ensure all welfare activities align with institutional goals and statutory guidelines.Qualifications & Experience
Professor grade (as per UGC norms) with strong academic credentials.At least 2 years of demonstrable experience in Student Welfare, Student Affairs, or equivalent university-level responsibility.Minimum 15 years of teaching / academic experience in higher education, with evidence of leadership roles.Familiarity with student-centric initiatives, grievance redressal, and welfare compliance.Desired Skills & Attributes
