About the Role :

The Lease Accountant is a key member of the Fixed Asset & Lease Team within the Global Accounting and Integrity Team (GAIT), part of Group Financial Control. This role ensures the financial integrity and compliance of the organisation by managing the end-to-end lease accounting process in accordance with IFRS 16 / AASB 16.

Duties & Responsibilities :

  • Manage the Group’s lease accounting process in accordance with IFRS 16 / AASB 16.
  • Perform complex lease assessments and accounting for Australian and international lease contracts using the SAP Leases module, including creation of new leases and maintenance of existing leases.
  • Administer SAP lease master data and system changes related to leases.
  • Deliver internal and external reporting requirements related to leases, including half-year and year-end reporting.
  • Assist the Business in assessing lease implications of new & amended contracts.
  • Provide technical lease accounting guidance and training to stakeholders.
  • Support external audit requests and tax-related requirements.
  • Prepare technical accounting papers and maintain process documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with lease SOX controls.
  • Perform general ledger reconciliations for lease balances.
  • Opportunity to learn and support the wider Fixed Assets accounting processes.

Skills & Experience :

  • Professional qualification (CA / CPA) or equivalent
  • 6+ years experience in AASB 16 lease accounting in large organisations.
  • Experience in preparation of statutory financial reports desirable.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Strong attention to detail with financial and analytical skills.
  • Skilled in stakeholder engagement across functions and jurisdictions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Committed to continuous improvement and process optimisation.
