Job Title : DDI L3 Engineer

Role Overview
The DDI L3 Engineer is responsible for leading enterprise-level DNS, DHCP, and IPAM (DDI) operations, ensuring high availability, performance, and security of network services. This role involves advanced troubleshooting, architecture design, migrations, upgrades, and collaboration with internal and external teams to maintain compliance with customer SLAs.
As a senior member of the DDI operations team, the engineer provides L3-level support , drives Infoblox infrastructure management , and contributes to service optimization and network automation initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- DDI Operations & Support
- Act as the primary technical lead for DDI (DNS / DHCP / IPAM) operations and end-to-end service delivery.
- Handle L3-level incidents, escalations, and service requests from L1 / L2 engineers.
- Provide 24x7 on-call support for DNS, DHCP, and IP address management-related issues.
- Manage DDI service availability and proactively monitor network performance and KPIs.
- Perform troubleshooting and root cause analysis (RCA) for critical incidents, and implement corrective / preventive actions.
- Maintain committed SLA / Uptime for all managed DDI environments.
- Design, Deployment, & Migration
- Design, implement, and upgrade Infoblox DDI environments (Grid Master, Grid Members, NTP, and DHCP failover setups).
- Lead and support migration projects, upgrades, and infrastructure transitions.
- Perform validation testing, execute change requests, and ensure documentation of every release or EWO.
- Develop and maintain infrastructure configuration standards and engineering design documents.
- Review and approve technical architecture documents and ensure compliance with enterprise standards.
- Network & Systems Integration
- Collaborate with LAN / WAN, Firewall, and Security teams for end-to-end network coordination.
- Provide DNS / DHCP integration support across routers, switches, and virtual environments.
- Work with vendors (Infoblox, Cisco, Juniper) for firmware updates, patches, and advanced troubleshooting.
- Manage and synchronize NTP servers (e.g., Chronos) for network time accuracy.
- Support automation and orchestration initiatives using APIs or scripting where applicable.
- Performance, Reporting, & Governance
- Conduct capacity and performance analysis of DNS / DHCP grids and IP utilization.
- Generate periodic operational, incident, and performance reports for review with management.
- Participate in governance and design review meetings and provide technical recommendations.
- Maintain detailed change and incident documentation in line with ITIL best practices.
- Review architecture, engineering, and peer documents to ensure consistency and standardization.
Key Skills & Technical Competencies
Core DDI Skills
Strong hands-on experience in DNS / DHCP / IPAM management using Infoblox and BIND.Proficient in Infoblox Grid Master / Grid Member deployment, configuration, and maintenance.Expertise in DNS administration (A records, CNAMES, MX, PTR, and aliases management).Experience in DHCP scope management, IP subnetting, and IPv4 / IPv6 address planning.Solid understanding of Infoblox policies, profiles, and object management.Experience maintaining NTP servers (e.g., Chronos) for network time synchronization.Networking & Troubleshooting
Strong knowledge of LAN / WAN technologies, including VLANs, STP, and VTP.Basic understanding of Cisco network devices, routing / switching, and connectivity troubleshooting.Familiarity with firewall concepts and security rules for DNS / DHCP traffic.Ability to perform packet-level troubleshooting and performance tuning.Operational Excellence
Excellent skills in incident, problem, and change management (ITIL framework).Analytical thinker with the ability to identify, isolate, and resolve complex technical issues.Proficient in documentation and reporting (Excel, SharePoint, Visio, etc.).Strong collaboration skills to work with cross-functional IT and vendor teams.Preferred (Good-to-Have)
LAN / WAN certification (CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent).Familiarity with automation / scripting (Python, Ansible, Infoblox REST APIs).Experience integrating DDI solutions in cloud or virtual environments (AWS, Azure, VMware).Education & Experience
Bachelor's Degree in Electronics, Telecommunications, or Computer Engineering.8+ years of total experience in network operations or DDI infrastructure management.Minimum 3–5 years of hands-on experience with Infoblox in large enterprise or telecom environments.Work Conditions
Must be available for flexible shifts (24x7 rotation).Role may require on-site presence for migrations or maintenance windows.Coordinate with global teams, vendors, and customer operations centers.Department & Role Summary
