Job Title : Senior Technical Writer – Data Engineering Projects Location : [Pune / Bangalore]

Role :

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Technical Writer with strong experience in documenting data engineering, analytics, and cloud-based solutions. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of data pipelines, ETL processes, data modeling, APIs, and big data ecosystems, and will be responsible for creating clear, structured, and technically accurate documentation for internal and external audiences.

Key Responsibilities :

Develop and maintain comprehensive technical documentation for data engineering projects, including :

Data pipeline design documents

ETL / ELT process descriptions

API documentation and integration guides

Data model and schema definitions

Cloud infrastructure setup (AWS, Azure, GCP)

User guides, deployment manuals, and SOPs

Collaborate with data engineers, architects, product managers, and QA teams to collect technical inputs and translate complex concepts into easy-to-understand content.

Standardize documentation templates, style guides, and best practices across projects.

Manage version control and document lifecycle using tools like Confluence, Git, or SharePoint.

Review and edit documents for clarity, consistency, and accuracy.

Contribute to project proposals, technical specifications, and client deliverables.

Mentor junior writers and ensure documentation aligns with organizational standards.

Required Skills & Qualifications :

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Technical Communication, or a related field.

6+ years of experience in technical writing, with at least 3 years in data engineering, analytics, or software development environments.

Strong understanding of :

Data pipelines, ETL / ELT workflows, data lakes, and warehouses

SQL, Python, or other scripting familiarity (for understanding context)

Cloud platforms (AWS Glue, Azure Data Factory, GCP BigQuery, etc.)

Version control systems (Git, Bitbucket)

Excellent command of English, with the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Proficiency with documentation tools like Confluence, Markdown, MS Word, DITA, or MadCap Flare.

Strong attention to detail, organizational, and project management skills.

Preferred Skills :

Experience documenting data governance, metadata management, or data quality frameworks.

Familiarity with Agile or Scrum methodologies.
