Job Purpose
Lead the procurement of equipment and bulk materials for large-scale shipbuilding and heavy engineering projects, ensuring timely, cost-effective, and compliant sourcing to support production, quality, and project delivery.
Key Accountabilities
- Develop and implement procurement strategies for equipment and bulk materials (e.g., steel, pipes, valves), aligning with project and production schedules.
- Lead negotiations, contract management, and supplier relationship development to secure the best pricing, quality, and continuity of supply.
- Ensure full compliance with maritime / engineering standards and quality management systems (ABS, DNV, ISO).
- Oversee inventory, stock levels, documentation, and audit requirements to minimize delays and support uninterrupted operations.
- Champion cost reduction, risk mitigation, and process improvement initiatives across procurement activities.
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders (engineering, finance, project teams) and external vendors / regulatory bodies.
Experience, Skills & Competencies
Minimum 18 years’ experience in procurement or supply chain management, preferably within shipbuilding, heavy engineering, or related sectors.Strong expertise in importing, LC payment terms, supplier negotiation, contract management, and leading procurement teams.Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical / Electrical Engineering, Supply Chain, or related; MBA or professional certifications in Procurement / Supply Chain preferred.Deep knowledge of procurement processes, vendor management, and relevant regulatory standards.High leadership, analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving abilities.Proficiency in procurement software, ERP, and MS Office.
