Senior Bookkeeper Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Senior Bookkeeper to join our team. As a key member of our accounting department, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
Key Responsibilities :
- Maintain accurate financial records for fleet operations and freight transactions, including accounts payable / receivable, fuel cards, permits, and vendor payments.
- Process payroll, driver settlements, and reimbursements in a timely and efficient manner.
- Manage provincial fuel tax reporting and quarterly filings, ensuring all necessary documentation is completed accurately and on time.
- Track equipment depreciation, maintenance costs, and compliance-related expenses, providing regular updates to management.
- Reconcile bank / credit card accounts and prepare cash flow projections to ensure the company's financial stability.
- Prepare accurate monthly financial statements (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow) to inform business decisions.
- Ensure GST / HST, CRA, and year-end compliance, including audit support to minimize risk.
Required Skills and Qualifications :
Proven expertise in full-cycle bookkeeping, payroll, and compliance within the Canadian trucking and transportation industry.Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritize deadlines.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.Familiarity with relevant software applications and technology, including financial management systems.Benefits :
