Job description
  • Fixed term full time until – 30/06/2027 – $110,916 – $124,195 p.a. Effective package $145,674 to $153,077 (p.a)*

  • Six weeks annual leave & 15 days paid personal leave per year.

Central Australian Aboriginal Congress is seeking an experienced Speech Pathologist to join the Head to Health Kids (H2HK) multidisciplinary team. This is a rewarding opportunity to provide early assessment, intervention and therapeutic support to Aboriginal children aged 0–12 years experiencing or at risk of mental health, developmental and behavioural challenges.

About the role:

  • Working across Alice Springs and remote Central Australian communities, you will:

  • Provide assessment, therapy and family support to children and their carers.

  • Support children with developmental, communication, behavioural and mental health challenges.

  • Develop and regularly review individual care and intervention plans.

  • Provide centre-based and outreach services across town and remote communities.

  • Work collaboratively with Psychologists, Occupational Therapists, Social Workers, Case Coordinators, Aboriginal Family Support Workers and Allied Health Assistants.

  • Participate in case coordination and multidisciplinary meetings.

  • Work closely with families, GPs, medical specialists and external service providers.

  • Support families to connect with appropriate health, developmental and community services.

  • Maintain high-quality clinical documentation and contribute to continuous service improvement.

About you:

You will bring:

  • A degree in Speech Pathology and eligibility for practising membership with Speech Pathology Australia.

  • Minimum two years’ post-graduate experience.

  • Knowledge of child development, mental health and neurodevelopmental conditions including FASD, ADHD, ASD and global developmental disorders.

  • Experience supporting vulnerable children and families with complex needs using child-focused, family-centred and trauma-informed approaches.

  • Strong assessment and therapeutic intervention skills across childhood disabilities and developmental needs.

  • Understanding and respect for Aboriginal culture and the factors influencing the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal children and families in Central Australia.

  • Strong communication, relationship-building and networking skills.

  • Current NT Driver Licence or ability to obtain.

  • Willingness and ability to travel and work in remote communities.
