Android Application Developer

We are seeking a Principal IT Engineer Applications - Android Technical Lead for our Fortune client in Healthcare industry to lead the development of high-quality Android applications. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in mobile application development, the ability to mentor junior developers, and experience working in an Agile/Product methodology environment. This role also involves close collaboration with senior leadership and offshore teams to ensure high-quality, enterprise-focused application delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the design, development, and support of native Android applications.
• Develop and maintain enterprise-focused and customer-facing mobile applications, including shared libraries.
• Utilize Java/Kotlin and Android frameworks to create robust applications.
• Build and deploy Android Open Source (AOS) applications.
• Rapidly prototype new features and enhancements.
• Ensure seamless integration with backend services using RESTful APIs.
• Provide mentorship to junior developers, including vendor contractors.
• Work with onshore and offshore teams to ensure high-quality development practices.

Must-Have Skills:

• 8+ years of experience in mobile application development.
• Strong experience with Java/Kotlin and Android frameworks.
• Hands-on experience in creating rapid prototypes for mobile applications.
• Strong knowledge of AOS app development and deployment.
• Experience integrating mobile applications with RESTful APIs.
• Familiarity with Agile/Product methodology.
• Ability to collaborate with senior leadership and mentor junior developers.

Good-to-Have Skills:

• Experience with integration technologies (e.g., web services, MQ).
• Knowledge of Swift/iOS development.
• Familiarity with cross-platform mobile development tools like Flutter.
• US Healthcare industry experience.
• Cloud experience, preferably Microsoft Azure.
• Strong understanding of UI/UX best practices.
• Startup experience, especially with fast-paced development environments.
• Knowledge of Automated Testing methodologies.
• Familiarity with EPIC systems and healthcare applications.

Key Aspects of the Role:

• Leadership in AOS development: Establish and grow the Android development team while ensuring onshore leadership in using Epic libraries.
• Enterprise-level development: Build applications like video appointment systems and other large-scale, customer-facing solutions.
• Technical mentorship: Monitor and guide offshore vendor work to ensure adherence to quality and delivery timelines.
• Cross-domain expertise: Candidates with both mobile and web development experience (e.g., 8 years in mobile and 6 in web development) will be considered case-by-case.
