Low-Code Platform Architect (Core Platform Owner)

Role Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Low-Code Platform Architect to lead the design and evolution of our enterprise-grade proprietary low-code platform. This role will define the core architecture, runtime model, metadata engine, workflow orchestration framework, extensibility model, and governance standards that power scalable application delivery across multiple business domains. The ideal candidate should have deep experience with leading low-code ecosystems such as Academia, Thesis, Out Systems, Mendix, Appian, or Microsoft and strong expertise in platform engineering, workflow systems, metadata-driven architecture, and enterprise SaaS models. This is a foundational product leadership role focused on building the next generation of digital transformation platforms.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Platform Architecture & Engineering:
- Define the end-to-end architecture for the low-code platform.
- Design the metadata-driven application model for: i. Forms ii. Workflows iii. Business Rules iv. UI Rendering.
- Architect the runtime execution engine for dynamic application generation.
- Build scalable multi-tenant platform architecture.
- Design extensibility models for: i. Plugins ii. Connectors iii. Custom Components.
- Define reusable component frameworks for rapid application assembly.
2. Workflow & Orchestration:
- Design workflow execution architecture and process orchestration models.
- Define approval workflows, escalation logic, and SLA tracking mechanisms.
- Build event-driven automation patterns.
3. Security & Governance:
- Establish platform-wide security architecture: i. RBAC (Role-Based Access Control) ii. ABAC (Attribute-Based Access Control) iii. Policy Enforcement.
- Define audit logging, compliance, and governance frameworks.
- Implement versioning strategies for: i. Applications ii. Workflows iii. Rules.
4. Platform Operations:
- Define CI/CD pipelines and deployment strategies.
- Establish environment promotion models: i. Development ii. QA iii. UAT iv. Production.
- Design observability and monitoring frameworks.
5. Product Innovation:
- Benchmark against leading platforms such as OutSystems, Mendix, and Appian.
- Drive innovation in: i. AI-assisted app building ii. Intelligent automation iii. Visual designers.
- Collaborate with product, engineering, and business stakeholders to define the platform roadmap.
Required Skills & Experience:
1. Core Technical Skills:
- Strong experience in low-code / no-code platform architecture.
- Deep understanding of metadata-driven systems.
- Expertise in multi-tenant SaaS platform design.
- Experience designing workflow engines and orchestration layers.
- Strong API-first architecture experience.
- Event-driven architecture and microservices.
- Rules engine design and implementation.
- Dynamic form generation frameworks.
- Strong cloud-native architecture experience.
2. Technology Stack Experience:
- Backend: Node.js, Java, .NET.
- Frontend: React, Angular, Vue.js.
- Databases: Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MongoDB.
- Cloud Platforms: Microsoft Azure, AWS.
- Containers & Orchestration: Kubernetes, Docker.
- Messaging: Apache Kafka, RabbitMQ.
- Identity & Access: OAuth2, SAML, OpenID Connect.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior architecture experience in OutSystems, Mendix, Appian, or Microsoft ecosystems.
- Experience building visual builders: i. Form Designers ii. Workflow Designers iii. Rule Builders.
- Knowledge of BPMN and decision modelling.
- Exposure to higher education, enterprise workflows, or government systems.
- Experience with AI copilots for application generation.
Leadership Expectations:
- Mentor engineering teams on platform patterns.
- Conduct architecture reviews and technical governance.
- Influence product strategy and roadmap.
- Ensure scalability, maintainability, and extensibility.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
We are looking for someone who has: Built or architected enterprise low-code platforms, deep understanding of application builder runtimes, strong workflow and orchestration experience, a product engineering mindset, and the ability to think in reusable platform abstractions rather than project-specific implementations.
