About the Role
We are seeking a Screen-Print Separator (Freelancer) to support advanced AI evaluation initiatives focused on screen-print production, color separation, print-ready artwork preparation, and AI-generated print design evaluation.
In this role, you will evaluate AI-generated screen-print artwork, color separations, spot color files, halftone patterns, and production-ready print assets. Your expertise will help improve AI systems designed for print production, garment decoration, packaging, and commercial printing workflows.
This position is ideal for professionals with experience in screen printing, prepress, textile printing, graphic production, print design, or commercial print operations.
Responsibilities
- Create deliverables addressing real-world screen-print production scenarios.
- Annotate and evaluate AI-generated print artwork, color separation files, and production-ready screen-print assets.
- Assess AI outputs for print accuracy, color consistency, production feasibility, and technical quality.
- Perform professional color separation by preparing artwork for multi-color screen printing using appropriate separation techniques for garments, packaging, signage, and promotional materials.
- Create and review spot color separations using Pantone Matching System (PMS) and other spot color workflows to ensure accurate color reproduction and registration.
- Design and evaluate halftones by selecting appropriate screen frequencies, dot shapes, angles, gradients, and tonal transitions suitable for different substrates and printing conditions.
- Prepare files for screen preparation, ensuring proper trapping, registration marks, choke/spread adjustments, film output, mesh compatibility, and production readiness.
- Review AI-generated screen-print files for alignment accuracy, ink coverage, printability, trapping, registration, and manufacturing suitability.
- Identify color separation errors, registration issues, halftone artifacts, trapping problems, overprint conflicts, and production risks in AI-generated outputs.
- Provide structured feedback to improve AI performance in screen-print artwork generation and print production workflows.
- Review peer-developed deliverables to maintain quality and consistency standards.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or diploma in Graphic Design, Printing Technology, Textile Design, Visual Communication, or a related field is preferred.
- 2+ years of hands-on experience in screen printing, prepress, textile printing, commercial printing, or print production.
- Performing professional color separation for apparel, textiles, promotional products, signage, labels, or packaging.
- Creating and managing spot color workflows using Pantone (PMS) and other industry-standard color systems.
- Designing optimized halftones for high-quality tonal reproduction across different screen-printing applications.
- Preparing artwork for screen preparation, including trapping, registration marks, choke/spread adjustments, film output, and production optimization.
- Reviewing AI-generated screen-print artwork for print quality, technical accuracy, and manufacturing readiness.
- Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, CorelDRAW, or industry-standard screen-print separation software is preferred.
- Familiarity with separation tools such as AccuRIP, Separation Studio, Wasatch SoftRIP, RIP software, or similar print workflow solutions is an advantage.
- Strong attention to detail, technical troubleshooting skills, and production-oriented mindset.
- Excellent written English communication skills.
- Ability to critically evaluate AI-generated print artwork for production quality, color accuracy, and technical feasibility.
- Ability to work independently in a remote, fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with garment printing, textile manufacturing, promotional product printing, signage, packaging, or commercial print shops.
- Experience with manual and automated color separation workflows for plastisol, water-based, discharge, sublimation, or specialty inks.
- Familiarity with ICC color profiles, RIP workflows, mesh selection, ink systems, and screen-making processes.
- Experience evaluating AI-generated print datasets, artwork automation, or print production workflows.
- Portfolio demonstrating professional screen-print separation work is highly desirable.
