CMS & Ecommerce Platform Lead (Wordpress, Shopify, Sanity, Webflow)
Location: Pune, India
Type: Full-time
About The Role
We're looking for a CMS & Ecommerce Lead to own our website content platform and online storefront end-to-end. You'll manage everything from site architecture and content operations to product merchandising, checkout experience, and conversion optimization. This is a hybrid technical/operational role for someone who's equally comfortable managing/developing a CMS content model and analyzing funnel drop-off on the product listing page.
What You'll Do
CMS & Content Operations
- Own the CMS platform — traditional or headless (e.g., Shopify, WordPress, Webflow, Contentful, Sanity, Strapi, Magento) including architecture, templates, and content governance
- Evaluate and drive decisions around headless/composable CMS architecture where it improves flexibility, omnichannel delivery, or front-end performance
- Manage the site's information architecture, ensuring content is structured for scalability, SEO, and reusability across pages/components
- Manage integrations between the CMS and other tools (analytics, personalization, marketing automation, CRM)
- Evaluate and recommend CMS platform upgrades, migrations, or replacements as the organization scales
- Troubleshoot CMS bugs and liaise with engineering/dev teams on more complex technical issues
- Ensure the website meets accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1/2.2 AA), auditing templates, components, and content for issues like alt text, color contrast, keyboard navigation, and semantic markup
- Manage content modeling and API-driven content delivery for headless implementations, partnering closely with front-end engineering on consumption of the content API
- Define and maintain information architecture, taxonomy, and metadata standards across the site, structured for reuse across web, app, and other channels
- Manage the publishing workflow and QA process for landing pages, campaigns, and product content
- Manage site publishing, domain, DNS, and SSL/hosting configuration, ensuring the site is live, secure, and correctly pointed across environments
- Monitor site performance, page speed, and technical SEO health related to CMS configuration
- Train internal teams on CMS usage and maintain documentation/best practices
Ecommerce & Storefront Management
- Own the online storefront experience — product listing pages, collection pages, checkout flow, and merchandising
- Manage product catalog setup, categorization, pricing rules, and inventory sync with backend systems (ERP/OMS)
- Own site merchandising calendar — homepage takeovers, collections, promotions, and seasonal campaigns
- Monitor site performance, page speed, and mobile experience, partnering with engineering on fixes
- Manage integrations between the storefront and third-party tools (payments, reviews, personalization, email/SMS, analytics)
Cross-functional
- Partner with design and engineering on new page templates, storefront features, and platform upgrades
- Collaborate with marketing on landing page builds for campaigns and promotions
What We're Looking For
- 6+ years managing a CMS and/or ecommerce platform, including experience with both traditional and headless/composable systems (e.g., Contentful, Sanity, Strapi, Shopify Plus, Magento, BigCommerce, Wordpress, WooCommerce)
- Understanding of headless/composable architecture and API-driven content delivery (REST/GraphQL), and when it's the right fit vs. a traditional monolithic CMS
- Hands-on experience with product catalog management, merchandising, and promotions setup
- Hands-on experience with templates, architecture, taxonomy, and metadata standards across the site
- Hands-on experience in JavaScript/Liquid, php language (or platform-equivalent templating language)
- Solid understanding of HTML/CSS; comfortable with light template/theme edits
- Experience running or analyzing A/B tests and CRO experiments
- Strong analytical skills — comfortable in GA4/analytics tools, hubspot, interpreting funnel and conversion data
- Working knowledge of hosting, publishing website, domain management, DNS configuration, and SSL/certificate setup and renewal
- Working knowledge of web accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1/2.2) and experience auditing or remediating sites for compliance
- Detail-oriented with a strong QA mindset, especially around checkout and payment flows
- Project management skills to juggle multiple stakeholders (marketing, design, engineering, ops)
Nice to Have
- Experience with a CMS-to-ecommerce migration or replatform to a headless/composable stack
- Familiarity with headless cms and decoupling front-end from back-end logic
- Experience with international/multi-currency or multi-language storefronts
- Familiarity with personalization or recommendation engines
- Custom plugins, widgets development
