Job Title: Centre Head/ Manager – University Creche

Department: People & Culture

Location: BML Munjal University, Gurugram

Reporting To: Director – People & Culture

Position Summary

The Centre Head will be responsible for the overall management and smooth functioning of the University Creche. The role requires ensuring a safe, nurturing, stimulating, and development-focused environment for children while maintaining high standards of care, hygiene, security, and parent engagement. The incumbent will oversee day-to-day operations, supervise creche staff, plan age-appropriate learning and engagement activities, and ensure compliance with all relevant policies and safety protocols.

Key Responsibilities:

Child Care & Development

  • Ensure the physical, emotional, social, and developmental well-being of all children enrolled in the creche.
  • Design and implement age-appropriate learning, engagement, and experiential activities.
  • Monitor children's progress and developmental milestones and provide periodic updates to parents.
  • Foster an inclusive, caring, and child-friendly environment.

Operations & Administration

  • Manage the day-to-day functioning of the creche.
  • Maintain attendance records of children and staff.
  • Ensure adherence to creche policies, operational guidelines, and standard operating procedures.
  • Oversee enrolment, onboarding, and exit processes for children.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation related to admissions, attendance, incidents, and parent communications.

Safety, Security & Compliance

  • Ensure the highest standards of child safety, security, hygiene, and emergency preparedness.
  • Monitor access control systems and visitor management processes.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and ensure compliance with University guidelines and statutory requirements.
  • Manage incident reporting and coordinate timely resolution of concerns.

Parent Engagement

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for parents and guardians.
  • Address parent queries, concerns, and feedback in a timely and professional manner.
  • Organize periodic parent interactions, orientation sessions, and feedback meetings.
  • Build a collaborative partnership with parents to support children's development.

Team Management

  • Supervise and guide caretakers and support staff.
  • Prepare duty rosters and ensure adequate staffing levels.
  • Conduct regular team meetings and training sessions.
  • Promote a culture of care, professionalism, and continuous improvement.

Learning & Enrichment

  • Develop monthly activity calendars and engagement plans.
  • Organize celebrations, thematic activities, storytelling sessions, art and craft activities, and experiential learning opportunities.
  • Ensure a balance between structured learning and free play.

Stakeholder Management

  • Coordinate with People & Culture, Administration, Security, Housekeeping, and Health Services teams to ensure seamless operations.
  • Support audits, inspections, and compliance reviews as required.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Psychology, Education, Social Work, or a related field.
  • Minimum 7–10 years of experience in managing a preschool, daycare, creche, or early childhood centre.
  • Experience in team supervision and parent engagement is essential.
  • Certification in Early Childhood Care & Education (ECCE) will be preferred.

Required Competencies

  • Strong understanding of child development and early childhood education.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • High level of empathy, patience, and emotional intelligence.
  • Strong organizational and administrative capabilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and resolve concerns effectively.
  • Knowledge of child safety, health, and hygiene standards.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and basic record management systems.
