Contractor Job Description – C++ Software Engineer

Job Summary

Seeking a contractor with strong hands-on C++ development experience to enhance and maintain reader/writer functionality for CAE/FEA solver interfaces. The ideal candidate should possess strong debugging, problem-solving, and analytical skills.

Responsibilities:

· Develop and enhance reader/writer code for CAE/FEA solver formats.

· Debug, troubleshoot, and resolve complex software issues.

· Optimize code performance, scalability, and maintainability.

· Develop and execute unit, verification, BVT, and functional (FNC) tests to ensure software quality and reliability.

· Investigate and resolve issues identified through automated and manual testing.

· Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, implement, and validate solutions.

· Document technical designs, test results, and implementation details.

Required Qualifications

· Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

· Strong hands-on experience in C++ programming and software development best practices.

· Experience developing and maintaining software components.

· Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.

· Experience with unit testing, verification testing, and code optimization.

· Knowledge of at least one scripting language: Python, Tcl, or Shell.

· Familiarity with Git version control systems and collaborative development practices.

· Strong analytical, logical reasoning, communication, and collaboration skills.

Preferred Experience

· Experience developing or enhancing reader/writer code for engineering or simulation applications.

· Familiarity with CAE/FEA solvers such as OptiStruct, Radioss, LS-DYNA, Abaqus, ANSYS, Nastran, PAM-CRASH, or similar technologies.

· Experience with large-scale engineering software applications.

· Exposure to software verification and validation processes.

· Experience working with global or cross-functional development teams.
