Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role for a Legal Editor located in Lucknow. The Legal Editor will be responsible for reviewing and editing legal content, ensuring content accuracy, and researching legal topics to create new content. The Legal Editor will also work closely with the editorial team to manage publications and ensure compliance with publishing schedules and standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Edit and proofread legal manuscripts, articles, case summaries, statutes, and related content for grammar, style, structure, and accuracy.
• Verify legal citations, references, and factual information against authoritative sources.
• Ensure content adheres to editorial guidelines, formatting standards, and publication timelines.
• Collaborate with authors, researchers, and editorial teams to clarify legal concepts and improve readability.
• Maintain consistency in legal terminology, citation style, and document formatting.
• Identify and correct substantive errors, ambiguities, and inconsistencies in legal texts.
• Assist in developing and updating editorial policies, style guides, and workflow processes.
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting strict deadlines.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Law (LL.B.) or equivalent; LL.M. preferred.
• 2–5 years of experience in legal editing, legal publishing, or related legal work.
• Strong understanding of legal research methods and citation systems.
• Excellent command of English, including grammar, punctuation, and legal writing conventions.
• High attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and legal research databases.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with legal publishing platforms or content management systems.
• Familiarity with Indian legal systems and court reporting standards.
• Ability to simplify complex legal concepts for diverse audiences.
• Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
