About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Principal PHP WordPress CMS Developer to lead the design, development, and optimization of complex web applications and enterprise-level CMS solutions. The ideal candidate will have deep technical expertise in PHP, WordPress, and modern web technologies, along with proven leadership in architecting scalable solutions and mentoring development teams.

Key Responsibilities

Architecture & Development
Lead the end-to-end design, development, and deployment of enterprise-grade WordPress solutions.
Architect scalable, secure, and high-performance PHP-based applications and plugins.
Integrate WordPress with third-party APIs, microservices, and external platforms.
Technical Leadership
Set coding standards, best practices, and architectural guidelines.
Mentor and guide junior / mid-level developers, conducting regular code reviews.
Collaborate with designers, content teams, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions.
Performance & Security
Optimize WordPress sites for maximum speed, SEO, and responsiveness.
Implement advanced caching, CDN integrations, and database optimization techniques.
Ensure compliance with security best practices, vulnerability patching, and GDPR / data privacy regulations.
Innovation & Continuous Improvement
Evaluate and recommend new technologies, tools, and frameworks.
Stay updated on emerging trends in PHP, WordPress, and CMS development.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.

10+ years of professional experience in PHP development, with at least 7+ years in advanced WordPress development.

Strong expertise in :

Custom theme & plugin development

PHP 7 / 8, MySQL, REST APIs

HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript (ES6+), jQuery

Gutenberg editor, WP-CLI, Composer

Deep understanding of WordPress core, hooks, filters, and multisite architecture.

Proficiency in modern build tools (Webpack, Gulp, NPM) and version control (Git).

Experience with AWS, Azure, or similar cloud platforms.

Strong knowledge of application security, scalability, and performance optimization.

Preferred Skills

Experience in headless WordPress using React, Vue, or Next.js.

Familiarity with CI / CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Jenkins).

Exposure to Docker / Kubernetes for containerized deployments.

Understanding of SEO best practices and schema markup.

Soft Skills

Excellent communication and stakeholder management.

Strong problem-solving skills and analytical thinking.

Ability to work in a fast-paced, agile environment.

Leadership qualities with experience in team management.
