Division

The Finance Division reports to the Chief Financial Officer and consists of some 3000 employees worldwide. Finance protects the Morgan Stanley franchise by serving as guardian of the Firms books and records and by contributing to firm wide risk management and risk reduction. This division maintains relationships with Morgan Stanleys various industry and government regulators and also serves as the conduit of financial information to the outside investment community. Finance plays a critical role as advisor to Morgan Stanleys various businesses and its senior management team.

Department

The Legal Entity External Reporting Controllers team is responsible for the production of high quality financial and regulatory reporting for the Firms legal entities including the preparation of : audited statutory financial statements; management accounts; US Federal Reserve entity level reporting and other regulatory reporting.

What youll do in the role :

• Responsible for leading an extensive Legal Entity Controller function within Mumbai including leading local management team to support and develop staff to perform the functions.
• Responsible for maintaining Key Stakeholder relationships including Legal Entity Senior Management Board of Directors Legal and Compliance Business Units Product Control Technology Team Statutory Auditors etc
• Act as the local point person in Mumbai for the LEC team who works with local leadership teams in managing the location and logistical dependencies related to the team (e.g. space / seats hiring / onboarding / training parallel run).
• Responsible for driving the transition of work from other Morgan Stanley locations and teams in line with timescales agreed with senior management and through collaboration with sending teams. Drive the planning and delivery of parallel run and relevant procedures.
• Plan and Lead various legal entity initiatives like capital actions legal entity restructuring plans etc. Accountable range of reporting for legal entities for presentation to senior management while ensuring compliance with the relevant reporting control framework ensuring compliance with accounting requirements and internal policy.
• Participate in committee meetings risk forums and provide valuable inputs in enhancing the control environment.
• Responsible to co-ordinate and / or consult with statutory auditors and / or senior partners on any accounting disclosure tax matter or any other regulatory notification to assess the implication for MS and its businesses. >

Participation in the development of the Legal Entity Controller function including identifying process improvement opportunities within the Reporting function including Re-engineering of processes developing control framework; driving the delivery of initiatives and projects related to process or entity-specific requirements; and responding to new or emerging external reporting requirements.
