Role Overview :
The Head of Manufacturing Plant Operations will be responsible for leading the end-to-end operations of the manufacturing facility, ensuring seamless production, quality excellence, cost efficiency, and compliance. This role demands strong leadership in plant management, process optimization, and people development to deliver operational excellence and meet business goals in a fast-paced, consumer-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities :
1. Plant Leadership & Strategy
Lead and oversee the plant operations including production, quality, maintenance, engineering, and logistics. Translate business objectives into operational goals, ensuring alignment with corporate strategy and customer demand.
Drive a culture of ownership, accountability, and performance excellence across all levels.
2. Production & Operational Efficiency
Ensure uninterrupted production operations to meet volume, quality, and delivery targets.
Implement efficient production planning, scheduling, and resource management to minimize downtime and optimize output.
Monitor KPIs such as OEE, yield, productivity, and wastage to drive continuous improvement.
3. Quality & Regulatory Compliance
Maintain the highest standards of product quality, food safety, and hygiene in accordance with FSSAI, ISO, GMP, and internal audit requirements.
Collaborate with QA / QC teams to ensure consistent adherence to quality norms and implement corrective actions where necessary.
4. Engineering & Maintenance
Oversee preventive and predictive maintenance programs for all machinery and utilities to ensure zero unplanned downtime.
Evaluate new technologies and automation opportunities to improve efficiency and plant reliability.
5. EHS (Environment, Health & Safety)
Ensure strict compliance with EHS standards and government regulations.
Promote a zero-incident safety culture through training, audits, and proactive risk assessments.
6. Cost Control & Budget Management
Prepare and manage the annual plant budget including production costs, manpower, and maintenance expenses.
Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives without compromising product quality or safety.
7. People Management & Capability Building
Lead, mentor, and develop cross-functional plant teams to foster high performance and skill development.
Promote employee engagement, teamwork, and effective grievance management for a positive work environment.
8. Continuous Improvement & Manufacturing Excellence
Champion Lean Manufacturing, TPM, Kaizen, and TQM initiatives to achieve operational excellence.
Drive innovation and digital transformation to enhance agility and scalability.
9. Supply Chain Coordination
Work closely with procurement, logistics, and planning teams to ensure smooth material flow and timely delivery.
Manage inventory levels effectively to balance cost and availability.
Qualifications & Experience :
Bachelor’s / Master’s degree in Engineering, Industrial Production, or related field.
15+ years of experience in manufacturing operations, including 5+ years in a leadership role managing full plant operations.
Proven expertise in large-scale production management, continuous improvement, and cross-functional leadership.
Strong understanding of EHS, quality systems, SAP, and modern manufacturing practices.
