The Network Security Manager is responsible for the day-to-day management, operational stability, and continuous improvement of the organization's network security infrastructure. This role involves leading a team of network security engineers, managing the deployment and maintenance of security tools, and responding to security incidents. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background in network security, proven leadership skills, and the ability to effectively manage security projects and operations in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
1. Team Leadership & Operations Management :
- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of network security engineers, overseeing their daily tasks, performance, and professional development.
- Manage the operational lifecycle of network security systems, including firewalls, Intrusion Prevention Systems (IPS), VPNs, web filters, and other network security appliances.
- Develop and maintain operational procedures, runbooks, and documentation for the network security team.
- Oversee the 24 / 7 monitoring of network security alerts and manage the team's on-call rotation for incident response.
2. Technical Implementation & Infrastructure Management :
Oversee the configuration, deployment, and maintenance of the network security stack, ensuring high availability and optimal performance.Lead network security projects, such as technology refreshes, new site deployments, and the implementation of new security controls like Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA).Perform regular reviews and audits of firewall rules, access control lists, and network segmentation to ensure compliance with security policies.Collaborate with the IT infrastructure team to ensure security is embedded in all network architecture and designs.3. Incident Response & Threat Management :
Act as the primary escalation point for network security incidents.Lead the technical response to network-based threats, including investigation, containment, eradication, and recovery.Analyze network traffic and security logs to identify suspicious activity and potential threats.Work with the broader cybersecurity team to conduct post-incident analysis and implement corrective actions.4. Policy & Compliance :
Ensure that all network security infrastructure and configurations comply with internal policies, standards, and regulatory requirements (e.g., ISO 27001, PCI DSS).Generate regular reports on the health of network security systems, incident trends, and the team's operational metrics for senior management.Assist in internal and external audits by providing evidence of network security controls and processes.Preferred Qualifications
Professional certifications such as CISSP , CISM , PCNSE , CCNP Security , or GIAC certifications (e.g., GSEC, GCIA).Experience with cloud networking and security in AWS , Azure , or GCP .Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell) for automation.Experience in a 24 / 7 Security Operations Center (SOC) environment.Required Qualifications & Experience
Experience : A minimum of 10-12 years of experience in IT, with at least 4-6 years in a supervisory or management role focused on network security.Education : Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.Technical Expertise :Strong, hands-on experience with enterprise-grade firewalls (e.g., Fortinet, Checkpoint, Cisco).In-depth knowledge of networking protocols (TCP / IP, BGP, OSPF) and network architecture.Proficiency with security technologies such as IDS / IPS, VPN, NAC, web proxies, and load balancers.Experience with network monitoring and SIEM tools (e.g., Crowdstrike).Leadership : Demonstrated experience leading and developing a technical team.Problem-Solving : Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to perform effectively under pressure.
