Job description

We are looking for a Vehicle Level Test Engineer – Android Automotive to validate HMI applications and headless services in real vehicle environments and production-like setups.

This role is critical in ensuring that features validated in controlled environments perform consistently when integrated with the full vehicle ecosystem, including Tier-1 systems, vehicle signals, and connected services. You will focus on end-to-end validation, system stability, and cross-application impact analysis to ensure production readiness.

Key Responsibilities

Vehicle-Level Testing & Validation

  • Perform rigorous testing of Android Automotive HMI applications and headless services on:
  • Actual vehicles
  • Vehicle simulators / HIL (Hardware-in-the-Loop) setups
  • Validate real-world scenarios including:
  • Driving conditions
  • Network variability (offline/online transitions)
  • Vehicle state changes (ignition, charging,

Test Case Design & Coverage

  • Design and execute detailed test cases covering:
  • Functional scenarios
  • Non-functional scenarios (performance, stability, reliability)
  • Edge cases across vehicle conditions and user interactions
  • Ensure comprehensive coverage across IVI features and ecosystem integrations

Ecosystem & Integration Validation

  • Validate integration with:
  • Tier-1 components and middleware
  • Vehicle signals (CAN/LIN) and telematics systems
  • Connected services and dependent applications
  • Ensure that new features or fixes do not break existing applications or system behavior

Cross-Environment Consistency

  • Compare and validate builds across:
  • Development (DEV)
  • Quality Assurance (QA)
  • Production (PROD)
  • Ensure zero or minimal delta between standalone testing and integrated Tier-1 environments
  • Identify and resolve discrepancies across environments

Defect Analysis & Reporting

  • Identify, log, and track vehicle-level defects and integration issues
  • Perform root cause analysis for issues spanning multiple system layers
  • Share detailed test reports including:
  • Test coverage and execution status
  • Defect trends and severity
  • Integration and performance observations

Collaboration & Validation Support

  • Work closely with:
  • HMI developers and QA teams
  • Android framework and platform teams
  • Tier-1 suppliers and integration partners
  • Support release validation, sign-off activities, and production readiness checks

Required Skills & Expertise

Automotive Testing

  • Strong experience in vehicle-level testing and validation
  • Experience working with real vehicles, HIL setups, and simulators
  • Deep understanding of automotive testing methodologies

Android Automotive (AAOS)

  • Experience testing Android Automotive HMI and IVI systems
  • Understanding of:
  • System services and headless applications
  • Multi-layer architecture (App → Framework → HAL)

Vehicle Systems & Integration

  • Knowledge of vehicle communication protocols (CAN, LIN)
  • Experience with vehicle signals, diagnostics, and telematics integration
  • Familiarity with Tier-1 ecosystem and middleware integration

Debugging & Analysis

  • Strong debugging skills using:
  • ADB, Logcat, Dumpsys
  • Ability to analyze cross-layer issues involving apps, framework, and vehicle systems

Test Management & Reporting

  • Experience in test case management tools (JIRA, TestRail,
  • Strong documentation skills for detailed reporting and traceability

Good to Have

  • Experience with automation tools for vehicle-level validation
  • Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and release validation workflows
  • Exposure to performance testing in real vehicle environments
  • Understanding of OTA updates and release lifecycle in automotive
  • Familiarity with multi-display systems (Cluster, IVI, HUD)

Key Metrics of Success

  • High defect detection rate at vehicle integration level
  • Minimal production defects post-release
  • Consistency across DEV, QA, and PROD environments
  • Reduction in integration-related regressions
  • Quality and clarity of test reports and insights

What You’ll Work On

  • Validation of Android Automotive IVI systems in real vehicle environments
  • End-to-end testing across HMI, system services, and vehicle integrations
  • Ensuring production readiness for next-generation connected vehicle platforms
