This individual will be responsible for all aspects of operational results and operations improvement for API, key materials and finished goods procurement. In addition to procurement leadership, the scope of responsibilities will include partnering with other key business leaders to manage technical, quality and regulatory compliance, customer satisfaction and product profitability.
ORGANIZATION STRUCTURE
This role reports to the Vice President of Supply Chain and has a dotted line to the Head Global API Procurement. The role is based in the Mumbai, India.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Directs overall API key materials and finished goods procurement activities to ensure customer orders are produced and shipped on time at the lowest possible cost to meet the customers' requirements, while maintaining established quality standards
Leads and establishes performance for cost control, waste reduction, quality and regulatory compliance, safety, and customer satisfaction
Directs implementation and execution of operational policies for API, key materials and finished goods procurement in India
Recommends and implements strategic changes in manufacturing and operations strategy for the plants
Analyzes plant operations to ensure that the company maintains a competitive edge in the industry and takes advantage of new processes and technologies that become available
Develops systems and processes to efficiently and effectively assess potential suppliers
Oversees and is responsible for the successful achievement of the API, key materials and finished goods procurement operation to ensure compliance with organizational budgeted expenditure requirements
Ensures compliance with state and federal regulations
Conducts thorough assessments of competing suppliers, including benchmarking of the companies’ API, key materials and finished goods suppliers in order to outline their current performance levels and highlight key areas for immediate and long-term improvement
Develops and implements procedures and processes to maximize manufacturing and supply chain management operations efficiencies as well as bottom line profitability
Reduces complexity and creates structures for enabling the continuous improvement of core business operations
Troubleshoots and resolves manufacturing and supply chain inefficiencies within the overall network, including but not limited to intermediates or starting materials, API, key materials and finished goods
Builds strong relationships with CEO / Executive level contacts at current or prospective suppliers to ensure direct Executive level engagement can occur when escalation is necessary to support ongoing activities
Work closely with the Quality and R&D to ensure all Supply Chain Operations, as well as Third Party Partners, comply with cGMP, cGDP and applicable regulatory requirements.
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience
The successful candidate should have 15+ years of experience with a leading generics or 505b2 manufacturing organization where he / she will has performed all aspects of active pharmaceutical ingredient, key materials and finished goods procurement. Additionally, this individual will have a demonstrated track record of success with innovative procurement activities to lead transformational change in a generic or 505b2 pharmaceutical supply chain environment. He / she will ideally have substantial experience with active ingredient manufacturing processes.
The successful candidate will be highly motivated, and possess vision, exceptional ability, and enthusiasm. She / He will have experience developing and designing implementation plans to drive execution. The candidate will demonstrate the ability to interface, influence, and build alignment with individuals and multi-discipline teams across all levels of management.
Education
MBA or equivalent experience is desired. Four year degree in Business or relevant sciences preferred .
