accountant manages an organization's financial records by preparing reports, analyzing financial data, and ensuring compliance with laws and regulations. Key duties include recording transactions, reconciling accounts, performing audits, managing budgets, and preparing tax returns. They also provide financial advice to management to support strategic decision-making.

Core responsibilities

Financial record maintenance : Accurately record and maintain all financial transactions, including general ledger entries and financial statements.

Financial reporting : Prepare and analyze financial reports such as balance sheets, income statements, and cash-flow statements.

Compliance and auditing : Ensure financial records and statements comply with laws, regulations, and accounting principles. Perform audits and resolve discrepancies.

Tax management : Compute and file tax returns for both the company and individuals, and advise on strategies to minimize tax liabilities.

Budgeting and forecasting : Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management to help optimize resource allocation and improve profitability.

Financial analysis : Analyze financial data, identify risks, and provide recommendations to management on how to reduce costs, enhance revenues, and improve profits.

Payroll and accounts payable / receivable : Manage payroll, process vendor invoices, and ensure timely payments.

Requirements

Work experience as an Accountant. Excellent knowledge of accounting regulations and procedures, including the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) Hands-on experience with accounting software like FreshBooks and QuickBooks. Advanced MS Excel skills including Vlookups and pivot tables.
