Role Description
As a Technical Artist, you will work closely with artists, and engineers to bring visuals to life inside Unity. You will create and optimize VFX, work on shaders, establish art pipelines, and ensure all assets meet performance budgets. This is an artist-first role with strong technical proficiency — ideal for someone who loves both creativity and problem-solving.
What you’ll do
- Create high-quality VFX using Unity’s VFX Graph / Particle System.
- Build and optimize shaders (Shader Graph or HLSL preferred).
- Ensure assets meet mobile-friendly performance budgets (poly count, texture sizes, draw calls).
- Set up and test art assets inside Unity (lighting, materials, prefabs).
- Collaborate with engineers to ensure assets behave correctly in gameplay.
- Work with artists to establish best practices for asset creation.
- Assist with pipeline tools and workflows (import settings, LODs, compression).
- Identify visual problems and propose performance-friendly solutions.
- Contribute to overall game style and polish during production.
Must-have
2–5 years experience as a Technical Artist or VFX / Shader Artist in the gaming industry.Strong understanding of Unity (materials, lighting, animation, asset workflows).Hands-on experience with VFX Graph / Particle Systems .Good knowledge of Shader Graph or basic HLSL shader writing.Experience with asset optimization for mobile (poly, textures, meshes, LODs).Strong portfolio demonstrating VFX, shaders, and in-engine technical work.Ability to collaborate iteratively with art + engineering teams.Good-to-have
Experience with URP (shaders, lighting, rendering pipeline).Knowledge of rigging, skinning, or simple animation workflows.Experience with tools like Blender, Maya, or Photoshop.Experience building simple tools in Unity (editor scripts).Experience working on live mobile games with performance constraints.Familiarity with profiling tools and mobile optimization techniques.What we offer
