Job Description
The Portfolio and Non-Operated Joint Venture (NOJV) Engineer will play a critical role in managing and optimizing our portfolio of NOJV assets, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and maximizing returns. The successful candidate will provide insights and recommendations on optimal development strategy based on type curve, depletion effects, and costs.
Key Responsibilities :
- Portfolio Management :
- Maintain and update Fair Market Value (FMV) tool with public transaction values.
- Key insights review for 3rd party closed transactions.
- Screen active permitting activity offsetting Chevron positions to highlight deal potential.
- Key competitor acquisition target screening- high level assessment of competitor company value, upside potential, and possible synergies.
- Initial inventory characterization for new discovered resources opportunities
- Preliminary competitor basis of design (BOD) review for transaction areas, compared to existing knowledge of basin area wells and developments.
- Non-Operated Joint Venture (NOJV) Management :
- Upload key partner data received in flat file to aid in technical analysis of Operator or Authorization for Expenditure (AFE) requests. Establish and maintain status tracker of backlog and progress of data uploading.
- Timely evaluation of NOJV AFEs for initial economic screening with clearly documented workflow assumptions for Capital, Net Revenue Interest (NRI), Production forecasting (bench / interval and gunbarrel), Opex, and price deck (Decision Support package expectations to be communicated).
- Maintain status updates on AFE tracker for AFEs under review, include weekly and evergreen key attribute updates. Maintain opportunity catalog schedule based on daily reports received from operators.
- Perform lookback analysis on wells assessed and actual results.
- Perform lookback analysis on wells transacted or non-consented / non-participation and confirm decision quality.
- Leverage lookback analysis in future AFE assessments in terms of forecast reliability (ranges), capital spend (ranges), and schedule adherence.
- Assist with inventory cleanup / strategic plan alignment and whether individual well decisions align with strategic plans.
- Assist with Operator intelligence / activity changes / earnings call insights on quarterly basis. Compare Operator profiles with Chevron and identify Operators that excel in key benchmarks.
- Technical and Economic Analysis :
- Conduct requested technical assessments and economic evaluations of shale and tight assets.
- Utilize reservoir engineering and production data to support decision-making processes.
- Expert in evaluating AFEs for economics performance.
- Collaboration and Communication :
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including geoscience, drilling, and production, to ensure integrated asset management.
- Communicate effectively with internal teams to enable external stakeholders’ engagements, providing updates on portfolio performance and strategic initiatives.
Required Qualifications
Education : Bachelor’s degree in petroleum engineering or a related field.Experience : 5-10 years of experience in reservoir engineering or asset management, with a focus on shale and tight formations preferred.Skills :Strong technical skills in reservoir engineering and economic analysis.Proficiency in AFE evaluations and portfolio management.Excellent communication and internal stakeholder engagement.Preferred Qualifications
Minimum 7 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, particularly in shale and tight asset management.Familiarity with Tools : Experience with industry-standard software for economic analysis.Selection Criteria
