The Executive Producer will be a senior, highly proactive leader within Beyond Pictures’ production team, responsible for driving the successful development, production and delivery of films (and associated content) in the Tamil-film ecosystem. The role demands outstanding networking across talent, financiers, distributors, OTT platforms, music labels, and studios;strong negotiation and deal-closing ability;exceptional project-management skills;and the ability to ensure that projects reflect the brand promise of “Dream → Create → Transcend”.
Key Responsibilities :
a) Deal-making & Networking
- Cultivate, maintain and expand high-level relationships with key stakeholders in the Tamil film industry — A-list / character actors, directors, composers, lyricists, producers, music labels, OTT acquisitions, trade associations and financiers.
- Identify and secure strategic partnerships : co-productions, international sales, OTT licence deals, music-rights deals, sponsorship and branding tie-ups.
- Lead negotiations on key contracts : talent deals, director / crew onboarding, music-rights agreements, theatrical / distribution contracts, OTT / TV rights, merchandising / licensing.
- Present and pitch projects externally : prepare pitch decks, financial models, talent-line-ups, marketing / roll-out strategies to stakeholders and investors.
- Monitor industry trends (Tamil Nadu, Pan-India, overseas Tamil diaspora) and proactively leverage emerging opportunities (e.G., new OTT windowing, international festival circuits, brand integrations).
b) Project Oversight & Production Leadership
- Oversee film (or series) projects from early concept through development, pre-production, production, post-production, marketing, release and ancillary windows.
- Work closely with Producer and Creative Producer to align on creative vision, budgets, schedules, and commercial objectives.
- Establish and monitor production budgets, cost-control frameworks, revenue-share models, profit-participation terms.
- Manage risk and contingency planning across all phases – schedule slippages, budget overruns, regulatory / licensing issues (e.G., censor board, film-unit permits, Studio / Studio Complexes).
- Coordinate with production units (line producers, production managers, location scouts, art department, legal / compliance, finance, distribution) to ensure smooth execution.
- Ensure timely delivery of materials (dailies, edits, locked picture, music masters, assets for marketing) and drive release readiness (certification, prints / digital, marketing collateral, premiere logistics).
c) Revenue & Commercial Management
- Define revenue streams and monetisation plans : theatrical, digital / OTT, satellite, music, global rights (Singapore / Malaysia / US / UK, Middle-East), merchandising / licensing, ancillary (airlines / hotels).
- Negotiate favourable terms for the company : ensure minimum guarantees, recoupment hurdles, backend participation, co-production agreements with clear IP / rights ownership.
- Monitor film P&L, reporting to senior management : track actual vs budget, analyse performance, propose corrective actions.
- Work with marketing / distribution teams to optimise release calendar (Tamil and non-Tamil markets), plan dubbed versions, regional strategies, festival premieres, awards campaigns.
d) Leadership & Collaboration
- Build and lead a high-performance team : production executives, business affairs staff, legal counsel, liaison officers, marketing / distribution associates.
- Act as a key liaison between the creative (directors, writers, composers) and business (finance, distribution, legal) sides — translating creative ambition into commercially viable frameworks.
- Foster a culture of accountability, visibility and results-orientation : ensure tasks are tracked, timelines met, budgets controlled, and stakeholder expectations managed.
- Serve as key brand ambassador for Beyond Pictures : represent the company at industry events, film markets (e.G., Cannes, AFM, IFFI), networking dinners, trade associations (e.G., TFPC, Film Producers’ Council).
e) Desirable Attributes
- Experience in multi-language / OTT-first projects and international co-productions.
- Prior relationships with global / Indian sales agents, festival circuits, and international financiers.
- Exposure to branded-content, streaming-series, short-form digital content in addition to theatrical films.
- Strong personal brand / visibility within the Tamil film circuit;
credible to both creative and business stakeholders.
- Familiar with emerging media (virtual production, web3, branded IP exploitation) — positioning the company for next-gen content.
f). KPIs & Success Measures
- Number of strategic partnerships (OTT deals, music-rights, international co-productions) annually.
- Percentage of projects delivered on time, on budget and as per quality standards.
- Total revenue and profitability of films / series under supervision (theatrical, OTT, music, global rights).
- Growth in company’s brand across Tamil industry (reflected by talent engagement, distributor strength, label tie-ups).
- Reduction in cost overruns, schedule delays, and missed delivery milestones.
- Employee / team satisfaction and retention in production / business affairs divisions.
- Innovation uptake : how many new-format projects (OTT, digital, cross-border) successfully launched.
j). Working Conditions
- Predominantly site-based in Chennai (Kotturpuram office) with frequent travel : locations in Tamil Nadu, other Indian states, and international markets (Singapore, Malaysia, Middle East, US / UK) as required.
- Flexible working hours : film production is non-linear — may require night shoots, weekend work, last-minute deal-meetings.
- Occasional presence at film festivals, markets and company promotional events.
