Software Engineering Manager (Data) [T500-20408]

Key Responsibilities :

Lead one team responsible for a product capability

Lead the delivery of complex solutions, and participate in the creation and presentation of technical designs

Participate in production support along with their team

Actively participate in planning, and performing code and architecture reviews of their team’s product

Ensure the quality and integrity of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) for their team and identify opportunities for improvement in how the team works, through usage of recommended tools and practices.

Manage individual performance through regular 1 : 1s, coaching, mentoring, and encouragement of development plans

Partner with product owner to ensure requirements are clearly defined

Lead effort to turn requirements into technical specifications

Set project schedule along with product owner

Provide technical leadership on the product and determines technical approach

Proactively communicate status and issues to their manager

Set the team’s objectives and key results in collaboration with Product and Experience Design (XD) partners

Collaborate with other teams to find creative solutions to customer issues

Show a commitment to delivery deadlines, in particular seasonal and vendor partner deadlines that are critical to Best Buy’s continued success

Set tactical team goals in service of larger organizational strategic goals

Requirements :

7+ years of relevant technical professional experience with a bachelor’s degree OR equivalent professional experience. Including :

1+ years of experience managing and leading engineering teams

2+ years of experience with Google cloud services including Dataflow, BigQuery, Pub / sub, Cloud function, Cloud monitoring with exposure to IaaC such as Helm, Terraform

1+ years of experience with Adobe Analytics, Content Square or similar technologies

Hands-on experience with data engineering and visualization that includes SQL, Airflow, DBT, LookerStudio / Looker, PowerBI or Tableau

Strong understanding of real-time data processing and issue detection

Expertise in data architecture, database design, data quality standards / implementation and data modeling

Ability to lead the technical discussions within team / stakeholders on proposed solutions and bring them to conclusion

Preferred :

Experience working in an omni-channel retail environment

Experience connecting technical issues with business performance metrics

Certification in Google Cloud Platform services

Good understanding of data governance, data privacy laws & regulations and best practices
