We are looking for a Lead Data Scientist to design, build, and deploy AI / ML solutions across marketing, customer, merchandising, and supply chain domains in a fast-scaling Direct-to-Consumer (D2C) retail business.
This role goes beyond reporting - the ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in data science, AI models, and marketing science to deliver high-impact solutions in customer acquisition, retention, personalization, pricing, and operational efficiency. You will partner directly with CXOs and senior business leaders to drive measurable business growth.
Core Technical Skills :
- Strong programming in Python and SQL.
- Advanced expertise in machine learning and AI models :
1. Supervised & unsupervised learning (classification, clustering, regression).
2. Time-series forecasting & demand modeling.
3. Recommendation systems & personalization.
4. NLP for customer feedback and surveys.
5. Computer Vision for image and catalog quality
Ability to design, train, and deploy AI agents that can autonomously handle complex workflows.Proficiency in ML frameworks (scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch, XGBoost, LightGBM).Knowledge of generative AI applications is a plus.Exposure to GCP cloud ecosystems and model deployment.Hands-on with ETL / ELT pipelinesBusiness & Leadership :
Strong business acumen to link models to revenue, margin, and growth outcomes.Strong model explainability and storytelling skills able to clearly communicate complex models to non-technical stakeholders.Proven track record of working in fast-paced, high-growth consumer environments.Key Responsibility :
Build frameworks for customer segmentation, churn prediction, CLTV / CAC optimization, and dynamic discountingConduct seasonality, decay rate, and pricing analyses to guide campaigns.Leverage survey and behavioral data for voice-of-consumer insights.Forecast demand across categories, sub-categories, and regions.Model size optimization, store-level and pincode-level preferences, and product fashionability.Develop recommendation engines (e.g., personalized bundling / auto-carts) to improve conversions.Build fraud detection systems to minimize COD / RTO losses.Analyze geo-based opportunities and cannibalization risks.Optimize warehouse-to-store replenishment and routing strategies.Deploy AI solutions like catalog / image hygiene automation.Explore generative AI and advanced ML to improve personalization and customer experience.Education :
Graduation : Bachelors degree (B.Tech / B.E.) in Computer Science, Mathematics, or related field from IITs, NITs, or other reputed institutes in India.Master : Masters degree in Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, or related fields from a recognized university (India or abroad).Candidates with research experience, publications, or specialized certifications in AI / ML will have an added advantage.Experience :
4-5 years of hands-on experience in Data Science & AI roles within high-value D2C, retail, or eCommerce organizations
