The individual is responsible for resolving customer initiated service orders that become held for OSP facilities and managing OSP facility inventory and address management databases. The individual will interact with various groups including Call Center, Planning, Engineering, Circuit Design, E-911, Loop Assignment Center and Field Operations.
This individual is responsible for taking complete ownership of all aspects of managing OSP facilities for FTTH, VDSL, copper, and T1 networks as well as the address management databases. The individual must display a balanced approach between day to day operations, managing work queues, managing projects, understanding the needs of internal and external customers, handling multiple escalations and priorities and understanding the teams role in the company.
Essential Functions :
- Resolve service order which fail to automatically assign OSP facilities in addition to supporting repair technicians with facility related issues for any of the following services : Copper T1 or T1E POTS, ADSL / VDSL internet, RF video, IPTV video
- Manage the address and OSP facility inventory systems to support the service ordering process. Includes :
- Coordinating database updates related to street name, community, and zip code changes Initiating record correction orders to update customer accounts
- Updating maps to reflect new / changed street information or wire center boundary realignments
- Uploading and maintaining FTTH, FTTN, and DSL qualification in address and facility related databases
- Perform investigations of identify / resolve problems related to OSP facility to ensure proper assignment and provisioning of services
- Correct designs and records in a timely manner when discovered in the field or through the course of network investigations
- Prepare cable pair transfer documents for rearranging cable splicing i.e. cutsheets and perform system updates upon completion Interface with zoning departments, planning commissions, municipal agencies, and CBT Engineering to secure address information for new residential and commercial developments
- Design and draft basic work orders to create network capacity for service orders held for OSP facilities
Education :
Four years of College resulting in a Bachelors Degree or equivalent
Relevant Work Experience :
2 to 4 years in related field
Special Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :
Two years drafting experience and / or trainingTwo years investigating and resolving database discrepancies OSP design experience in the telecommunications industry highly desiredDrafting experience in the telecommunications industry highly desiredWorking knowledge on performing network investigations helpfulWorking knowledge of engineering and construction process in the telecommunications industry highly desiredPrior experience managing databases and utilizing workflow management applications highly desiredPrevious experience interfacing with governmental entities such as zoning and planning commissionsDemonstrated experience interfacing with customers Demonstrated work experience in a regulated environmentSupervisory Responsibility :
