Job Responsibilities :
- Gather and Analyze Business Requirements : Work closely with stakeholders to understand their business needs, pain points, and expectations. Translate these into clearly defined GIS-based requirements.
- Conduct Stakeholder Workshops and Interviews : Organize and facilitate meetings, workshops, and interviews with end- users, domain experts, and technical teams to gather insights and requirements for GIS solutions.
- Document Functional and Non-Functional Requirements : Prepare business requirement documents (BRD), functional requirement specifications (FRS), user stories, and acceptance criteria to ensure clarity and alignment between business and GIS teams.
- Liaise Between Technical Teams and Business Users : Function as a bridge between GIS developers, data analysts, and business users. Ensure the technical team understands the business context, and the business team understands the technical solution.
- Design GIS Workflows and Business Processes : Develop or optimize spatial workflows that align with business processes. Create process maps, use-case diagrams, and workflow charts using tools like Visio or Lucid chart.
- Assist in GIS Solution Design : Collaborate with the GIS architect or technical team to ensure the solution design meets business objectives. Review UI mockups, database schema, and system architecture.
- Supporting GIS Data Analysis and Reporting : Help in defining the data model, identifying data sources, validating spatial data quality, and developing reports, dashboards, or maps that provide actionable business insights.
- Perform User Acceptance Testing (UAT) : Define test cases based on requirements and coordinate UAT with stakeholders. Ensure the final GIS application meets the agreed-upon specifications before deployment.
- Support Change Management and User Training : Create training materials, user manuals, and conduct training sessions to onboard users. Help manage the transition to the new GIS platform or updated system.
- Monitor Project Progress and Ensure Deliverables : Track project milestones, timelines, and deliverables. Coordinate with project managers and development teams to ensure timely delivery and resolution of issues.
- Ensure Data Governance and Standards Compliance : Ensure GIS solutions follow organizational standards, data governance policies, and regulatory requirements. Maintain metadata, naming conventions, and symbology standards.
- Evaluate and Recommend GIS Tools and Technologies : Research and evaluate GIS software, tools, and platforms that align with business needs. Provide recommendations on upgrades, new tools, or integration options.
- Conduct Market or Industry Research : Analyze trends in geospatial technology, regulatory changes, or industry practices that could influence the business or GIS system usage.
- Support Integration with Enterprise Systems : Assist in integrating GIS with other systems like ERP, CRM, SCADA, or asset management platforms for a unified business solution
Technical skill :
Expertise in GIS and Remote Sensing (Geo-Informatics)Hands-on experience with GIS tools / platforms (ArcGIS, QGIS, etc.)Strong understanding of spatial data models and data quality validationAbility to design and optimize GIS workflows and business processesKnowledge of GIS solution design and system architectureExperience with GIS data analysis, reporting, dashboards, and map creationFamiliarity with integration of GIS with enterprise systems (ERP / CRM / SCADA)Proficiency with process mapping tools (Visio, Lucidchart)Understanding of data governance standards in GIS systems(ref : hirist.tech)
