The Role :

We are looking for an experienced Sales and Business Development Professional to spearhead our expansion into the Indian Solar Market. This Solar Industry leader should be well connected with extensive industry relationships across solar and battery market wholesalers-distributors, finance companies and manufacturers, with a deep knowledge of the national solar and storage market. We are after a highly motivated self-starter to build our brand and build our ecosystem of services with the aim to build the leading toolkit for small businesses in India and accelerate the energy transition.

What you’ll be doing :

  • Identify, develop and execute commercial partnerships with key suppliers, manufacturers and service providers within India
  • Manage country leads, plan, set out and manage delivery of Business development, revenue and growth targets in key growth regions within India.
  • Deliver revenue growth targets across Indian regions aligned to budget.
  • Build and manage India growth and execution plan.
  • Strong emphasis on building partnerships

Objectives of the Role :

  • Growth - Grow OpenSolar partner base, revenue and user base in focus Indian regions in order to deliver OpenSolar's global growth objectives
  • Revenue - Establish core commercial relationships and develop opportunities to foster future revenue and revenue attachment opportunities, rolling out the existing standardised revenue generating products, such as cashflow, integrated finance, hardware and marketing services.
  • Product Market Fit - Oversee and own the required deliverables for product market fit of OpenSolar in the focused regions of India, including acting as the key sponsor for PMF of OpenSolar's monetisable products in market.
  • What you’ll need :

  • Prior experience selling into the India distributed solar market is required, with experience in the solar wholesale and distribution business model serving the residential solar market.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Economics, Science, Engineering or Commerce or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Prior leadership experience in building brand presence in new markets with proven results in growing market share.
  • 8+ years of proven Sales & Marketing / Business Development experience with a strong track record of meeting or exceeding sales quotas.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Proficiency with CRM software (e.g., Hubspot) and other sales tools.
  • Self-motivated, results-driven, and able to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Ability to travel as needed to meet with clients and attend industry events.
  • Local knowledge of the Indian Solar Industry.
  • Established networks & relationships with government agencies would be advantageous.
