Job Title : Key Accounts Manager

Job Purpose :
As a Key Accounts Manager, you will be responsible for driving the development, execution, and performance of sales strategies within the assigned market. You will oversee both primary and secondary sales, ensure consistent brand presence, and manage the distributor network to achieve business objectives.
You will play a critical role in aligning field operations with the division's financial and ethical goals while implementing the business strategy effectively. This position offers decision-making authority over customer management, distributor appointments, credit approvals, and strategic resource allocation.
Key Responsibilities :
1. Area Business Planning :
- Develop and implement monthly and quarterly business plans.
- Drive trade activation initiatives and overall sales growth.
- Plan and execute demand generation and fulfillment activities.
- Monitor sales performance, identify gaps, and take corrective actions.
- Conduct prescription audits for Abbott and competitor brands.
- Maintain and regularly update customer databases (doctors and chemists) as per therapy / product requirements.
- Identify potential markets / towns and appoint suitable distributors and trade partners in line with business philosophy.
2. Business Generation & Development :
Achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets through ethical promotion of company products.Conduct scientific discussions with doctors and chemists to enhance brand visibility and product understanding.Organize and execute CMEs, trade activations, and clinic-level promotions as per division strategy.Plan and implement merchandising, sampling, and in-clinic / trade promotional activities.Support new product launches by identifying target customers and driving pre- and post-launch engagement.Ensure execution of the customer management plan with 100% doctor coverage and adherence to call averages as per division norms.Gather market intelligence, track retailer-level inventory, and provide feedback aligned with brand strategy.3. Brand Management & Visibility :
Ensure consistent visibility of Abbott brands across retail outlets.Plan and participate in retail meets, market blitzes, and brand visibility campaigns.Drive trade engagement and loyalty through effective communication and relationship management.4. Distributor & Channel Management :
Supervise distributor operations to ensure availability, supply, and timely collections.Recommend appointment and credit limits for distributors as per company policy.Approve expiry products and issue credit notes as per business guidelines.Review performance metrics and provide inputs during strategy execution meetings to ensure market alignment.5. Compliance & Reporting :
Ensure all business activities are conducted ethically and in line with company policies.Submit periodic reports, performance reviews, and market insights to management.Maintain accurate documentation related to sales, trade activities, and customer interactions.Qualifications & Skills :
Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Pharmacy, or a related field (MBA preferred).3-6 years of experience in Key Account / Sales Management within the pharmaceutical or FMCG industry.Strong understanding of trade marketing, distribution, and channel management.Excellent communication, analytical, and relationship-building skills.Proficiency in MS Office and CRM tools.(ref : iimjobs.com)
